I'm not a monkey. Fuck it makes me laugh when people say they're monkeys. What a pack of hopeless cunts seriously. Lol monkeys. That's one thing you'll never hear from me or get out of me. If anything my legacy left behind is gonna be "dude, that bitch really didn't like monkeys" Anyway y'all need to stop pretending that this is like a serious topic lol. It's Roseanne. The worst most disgusting actress ever on TV history drops a couple of Ape bombs and erryone acts like it's changing the world..
I think he means that we are part of the primate family of animals; same family as monkeys. I think we have to take it seriously when someone like her makes a comment like that. It's not acceptable to disparage a race or a religion. She did both. And she got called on it. ABC cancels her show for that. I think it was a good call. It's poetic justice to me, knowing how she followed Trump. I'd like to see that lot impeached, so in a small way it was symbolism! EDIT: I think VG just means we are members of the primate family.
If we want to play the semantics game, we're apes, not monkeys, right? They're two different things? Guess that's not really the point though. EDIT: Yes, confirmed...monkeys and apes are two different suborders of the order primates. So anyone saying humans are monkeys, is biologically incorrect. We are, in fact, part of the great ape family. That being said, there is a loooooooooong standing tradition of equating black people with apes in a purely racist sense. I think pretty much everyone knows that. This was the justification for the slave trade: peoples of sub-Sahara Africa were somehow less than human. I suppose I can give VG the benefit of the doubt because the relationship between white Australians and aborigines may be different from that of white and black Americans. But the absurdity of his comment that those who take offense to racism are the racists themselves still stands.
There no doubt what she said was offensive and insulting. To pull the show and put 200+ people out of work for that one stupid little comment is ridiculously overactive. There is a massive double standard where white people take insult after insult and it rolls off their backs like nothing, but a similar insult to a black person gets overreactions off the fucking rails.
I would typically disagree with you (how 'bout Kathy Griffin's career?) but if Samantha Bee doesn't lose her job, I'm going to be very hard to convince there is no double standard.
Oh see that even is more bemusing to me that you actually knew who she voted for or followed in a political campaign. Like who knows that stuff? If celebrity poll and opinion is this scrutinised and holds so much influence on personal opinion in America then that's just another whole can of.. Stupid. I couldn't tell you my most favorite person in the celebrity world political opinion hey like those details are just so pointless in my life, and then I read Roseanne has some cult followers looking for poetic justice. Lol. Come on, man.
I haven't seen the news for a few days so I missed all this stuff. But as I said in the beginning of this thread.... and I'm paraphrasing myself....Rosanne Barr is an asshole. I've known that for years. She likes to pretend she's some kind of liberal hippie type person when in reality she's a Trump degenerate. And a racist.
Her position on Trump was highly televised. That's the only reason I knew. I didn't watch the show, but I think there may have been an episode of her opinion about Trump.
personally, i don't see how comparing someone that legitimately looks like a planet of the apes character to a planet of the apes character is necessarily racist. i do think that this was a racist statement, because she also threw in the muslim part and i have no idea what she could have meant by that if it wasn't supposed to be some sort of racism. but if she had left that part out, it would look to me like she's just being a bitch about that woman's appearance. i am aware of the racist ape/monkey comments about blacks in the distant past, but in my real life experience when someone mentions a monkey or an ape, they are literally never saying anything relating to race, so if i hear "ape" or "monkey" it really doesn't even occur to me that it might be a racist comment.
Yeah, so you dont think its an ingrained US thing? White guys, you get a lot of them that are cro mag, neanderthal looking motherfuckers. Some white guys, eastern europeans, arab guys look more like apes than africans do
Political alliances go deep. Rosanne was cultural identity for Trump voters as is the idea that they are "not PC" and say whatever they want. To admit Rosanne is wrong betrays those ideals. White America can say what it wants and be proud end of story.
Yeah, the woman that played Zira in the planet of the Apes is actually white. The inclusion of the Muslim Brotherhood was probably just to make the comment sound funnier. It's a totally harsh statement. I think the number one person to be compared to an ape was George W. Bush.
This is the same situation as the NFL, Anthem issue. Employers have a right to set the tone of the workplace with regard to political statement. Roseanne was also indecent in a way that NFL players are not.
