Roommate Issues-When Is The Right Time For Sex And Masturbation?

I share a two bedroom apartment with my best friend of some 15 years and our bedrooms are right next to each other so the sound does carry through quite a bit. So, when he has sex with his girl I get a pretty good earful of it. I try to just tune it out, put a pillow over my head, turn the TV or music on or something.

My question is this: would it be weird if I chose this time to whack off? It's not that I want to listen to him and jerk off to it, that is pretty weird, but I mean if I got to do it sometime then why not then? If he's doing a sex thing then I should be able to do my sex thing too right? I would put headphones on and watch porn so I wouldn't even hear them, of coarse, but my fear is that they would hear the fapping and think I was doing it to the sound of them banging... Would it make any difference if it weren't masturbation and it was my girlfriend and I? Just trying to think this through.
