on friday i got my rook peirced and it hurt alot, but then it was alright all weekend, until last night, when it started to hurt so much, it was burning and all today, is this supposed to happen? i was told it would hurt while healing. i guess i had a pretty rough weekend, i wore a hat and a snowmobile helmet, and last night i also went in the hot tub, is that bad for it? but when i got my lip peirced i went in the hot tub... is the mayjor swelling days later alright? or am i having some sort of reaction to the jewlery? i do know in the bottom part of my ear i can only wear gold

If you got it pierced at a shop then I doubt the jewelry is the problem because professional piercers use surgical/stainless steel. So it sounds like your problem is because of the pressure caused by wearing the helmet & hat along with the possible contamination caused by going in the hot tub (hot tubs can very commonly be a breeding ground for bacteria). Keep up with the salt-water soaks and your ear should feel better in a couple days.

well piercings dont generally heal in a week also. they can be a lot better but not healed.

most piercers would suggest avoiding a spa/hot tub at first, or even for entire healing periods.

and yeah, professional piercers should use implant grade surgical steel, but there are many dodgy piercers out there..

Yeah the helmet and hat could be the problem if they were tight against the piercing or you were bumping around on the snowmobile. Did you get your piercing wet in the hot tub? Keep in mind some piercings just reject.

Oooo. Open wounds in a human bacteria frappe is a bad recipe! Salt soaks for you!
