Ron paul is not against stem cell research. He is against federal funding because he says why should the government fund something that a corporation is going to profit from. Stem Cell research is being privately fund right now. And I agree with him because more than likely its going to get a patent.
No large scale medical incentives progress without federal funding. THis has been true with all medical initiatives of the past 50 years, and this is why much of our biomedical research is moving to places like Singapore and China which welcome this research. You're wrong on that front, GuitarPeace.
And which side would hold out when a person who's always voted against womens rights gets to choose the next supreme court judge?
Again, if he had to appoint a judge you can basically assume he'd appoint one that would leave near everything to state and district courts.
I consider a politicians voting record more indicative of future decisions they would make then what they say their vague political philosophy is. I agree with Gardener. He is a Republican, and one of the less progressive ones.
If you think all presidents are mere puppets that are used as front men for the elite people of the world (bankers, corporations, etc), what is your opinions of Ron Paul and do you think he would bring change to our current system? Or do you think he is just another corporate shill like the others? I don't really see it. He goes against everything you say the ordinary president does. Just curious cause you seem to always have an answer, but never a solution, that is why I'm addressing you but others can answer as well. Could this be the guy that could turn everything around or is it to late?
Ron Paul is a Republican. That means his first loyalties are to the war contractors and to The Party, no matter what he and his supporters say. End of story.
^How open minded of you Sunlion Everyone knows no democrats have loyalties to war contractors How about you vote for the candidate and not the party Ron was against this war and the PATRIOT ACT before it was cool
Why do you think they're ignoring Ron Paul, despite his MASSIVE popularity? They give more attention to Mike Huckabee -- who has far less of a following and has ranked far less in many of the polls -- than they do Ron Paul. This is not our system as many people think, and they would never allow somebody like Ron Paul to win. Right now they're mostly ignoring him, but as it's becoming harder to ignore his following, we have people like Glenn Beck equating Ron Paul supporters with domestic terrorists and al-Qaeda. If for some miraculous way he did win, he would likely see a similar fate as that of John F. Kennedy, because he DOES stand in complete opposition to what the elite stand for. Sunlion - you are the typical leftist koolaid drinker. I hate to resort to name-calling, but you clearly do not have a clue. You think people like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama don't have loyalties to the military-industrial complex? Just look at who's funding their campaigns, then look at who is funding Ron Paul's campaign. If Ron Paul had loyalties to the defense industry, then how come all his campaign money is coming from average people? How come 95% of the money Hillary and Obama receive is coming from the military-industrial complex and big-pharma? Why do you think people like Rupert Murdoch are campaigning for Hillary? Why do you think many of the top neocons are rooting for Hillary to win? BECAUSE SHE IS ONE OF THEM! Duh! Are you really THAT stupid? I mean, are you completely brainwashed? How are you any different than the people you oppose? You are every bit as brainwashed as the Bush worshippers.
How about you vote for the candidate and not the party The Republican Party is a fundamentally corrupt organization, and Ron Paul remains a member of that criminal gang. I'm not exactly sure what he's up to, but given the gang he belongs to, you can be sure it's not good for you or me. Bush was also supposed to be a "different kind of Republican," more moderate, less hawkish, not interested in foreign nation-building, and all that. But it was all bullshit. Of course it was bullshit. It had the stamp of the "R" on it.
I don't believe in the "difference" in parties any more, appearances can be deceiving... I love Ron Paul. Lovable sort of guy... I think he WOULD win, but we can't have him as pres for some reason or another, it wouldn't be allowed... But, here's a crazy conspiracy theory for ya. WHAT IF... he were a plant being used for the purpose of taking names (the terrorism thing)? OR, what if he were a plant being used to divide up the republickers so that HORRIBLE HILLARY can (be made to appear to) win... OK, Ron Paul fans can slap me now... Just don't forget I said I LOVE him.
They touted him as the 'compassionate conservative'. They also kept him as quiet as possible in the 2000 campaign so people wouldn't realize how empty he was. .
He voted against the Patriot Act and the Iraq war... he is the only true Republican up there. He has an excellent voting record; He votes for what he says he will vote for.
OMG you fell for it ... that's just what they WANT you to think. They've put up this supposedly "alternative" candidate, pressing all the right buttons to make you think he's not part of it, and it's obviously working...
I don't believe in the "difference" in parties any more, appearances can be deceiving... I would have said the same at one time. But the difference between Dems and Repubs can be measured in dollars and corpses. About two trillion dollars and a few hundred thousand corpses. It's a big enough difference to measure. He voted against the Patriot Act and the Iraq war... The Republican Party holds that the Bush Administration does not need advice/consent to start a war, nor to enforce what's in the Patriot Act. It gives them something to play lip service with if they get the vote they want, but they've made clear that no decision of a court or congress will ever be taken as having authority over them. So yes, he voted against laws which his own political party regards as completely symbolic and without any legal binding authority.
How can you say Sunlion that only republicans are part of this "criminal gang". How is Hillary a better choice even if she voted for this war? Obama and Hillary's campaign are run by big bussiness Rons donations come from people like me Forgive me if I ont understand your logic.
And lest we forget Ron campaigned as a Libertarian at one point. I don't think he holds his party affiliation as sacred. I think he is a man who votes his conscience.
