    So what is this about?
I heard they have a song out with some lyric about Bush and the right wing is p-sssed off.
I quit listening to the Stones after their last good album (Her Statanic Majesties' Request, I think t was called).

Then I tuned into NSNBC and Ted Nugent (the idiot, in my opinion) was frothing at the mouth about how there is no more relevant protest music as the Beastly Boys (who I never listened to) are loosers and Bush is great and let's go buy guns and shoot things. And, I take it, the Stones better shut up.

    Never liked Nugent.

Then the next segment had Crosby and Nash on! On the news! Some talking head, I forget his name, was trying to say that the news coverage of the Iraq "war" was better than the coverage during Vietnam, cause it's 24 hours!
Crosby jumped all over that and said, to the effect that the media has learned how to insulate the public from the real war by banning all pictures of causilties, coffins and such.....

Nugent cashed in on the patriotism kick way back in the 80s during the Reagan era, along with many other groups back then singing patriotic lingo (born in the USA, born in a small town, and all that stuff). :)

I think Nugent did a song called 'Who Do They Think They Are?" after Iran took the American hostages. Lots of local TV news hosts were all upset with Iran. Some even burned Iranian flags, as if that did anything to help the problem.

Things are much the same today, with the rhetoric aimed once again at the Mideast. Things haven't changed much in 25 years. Back then people were putting yellow ribbons on trees. Today it's the yellow ribbon stickers on SUVs. Back then it was more of a 'bring our Americans home' message, whereas today it's more of a 'support our invasions' message.

    Yes-MEAGAIN-ShaggY...
Satanic Majesty's Request morphed a few of my friends into Black Magic--along with Alice Cooper and Arthur Brown, Black Sabbath etc. the first true GOTHS! LOL!
Ted Nugent--yes-I agree--making money on the backs of the hippies and then doing gun documentaries and bow and arrow demonstrations (compound bows)...he makes no bones about his militarism. Rather listen to Todd Rundgren.
Yes totally Red, White and Blue--Ted, Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, etc..why did they want us to actually rally round the flag? Ludicrous!

The Gulf War--went along un-protested...whoops did everyone miss those "smart bombs" and "air force sortees with precision guidance systems?" well some worked--some didn't--sorry civilians..We'll get those little quirks worked out in Afghanistan or somewhere else down the road--and they have. OOps.. :&

Rolling Stones have sold out Man--just saw a commercial of them for Home Mortgages. You know Mortgages you can sell to unknown robbers and userers so that you can afford the payments on a $250,000.00 home...gotta keep up appearances..you know--he American Dream. I guess the Stones are into that...??????
    Okay gotta go...
    Great thoughts people..
    Peace

Anti Bush Song Will Make Stones Album

Keith Richards (photo by Ros O'Gorman)

    by Paul Cashmere

    8 August 2005

One of the Rolling Stones most political songs ever, 'Sweet Neo Con' will be included on the final track listing for the band's forthcoming 'A Bigger Bang' album.

The lyrics are a direct attack on the US president, calling him a hypocrite. "You call yourself a Christian, I call you a hypocrite/You call yourself a patriot, well I think you're full of shit" states the lyrics.

"It is direct," Mick Jagger told Newsweek. "Keith said [he breaks into a dead-on Keith imitation], 'It's not really metaphorical.' I think he's a bit worried because he lives in the U.S." Jagger smiles "But I don't."

News about the song surfaced a few weeks ago with many expecting that the song would not make the finally cut, instead becoming another controversial unreleased Stones classic like the 70's 'Claudine'.

The Rolling Stones 'A Bigger Bang' tour kicks off in Boston on August 21.

...that the Stones end up on a "no fly" list? Either that or "hmmm, Mr. Jagger, your visa isn't quite in order. I'm afraid we're going to have to detain you and your friends."

Ted Nugent is a raging asshole. Supporting the war, is he? You know that fucker didn't bathe or clean himself for about a week before his Selective Service physical. And that does mean he poo-pooed in his draws. Stank to hell-n-back. But it's alright now, ma. Two-faced shithead.

I haven't heard this new Stones song but why are they not screamin at their own leaders for supporting the war-Tony Blair is right in there with Bush-I mean-I don't like Bush but he runs this country; not the UK--see these English groups spend more time here than they do at "home"-then bitch-think Ill go to London and camp out at the Queens place-bring a tent-Don't get me started on that phony Nugent-Him and that other phony Alice Cooper are both Republicans and put on their bs shows and sing about freedom etc.-then they take off the makeup and go play golf with Bush Sr.-Cooper did all the time--it may be nowdays it dosen't matter who you vote for or what you stand for or against-and that just may be one of the problems-famous people have lots of influence and their help is always needed for benifits etc.-People like John Cougar Melloncamp; Willey Nelson' Bono;-those guys I admire and respect for trying to help the farmers /world hunger etc.-we need more of them and less Nugent-Cooper type idiots-(they never were any good anyway)lol--The lady/mom in Crawford is great and is embarrising Bush-he may have to explaine to her why her son died-so Bush;s buddies at Haliburton can keep this money train/war goin!--

I couldn't agree more. I few years ago, he played at our local county fair. (I was there, I'm an exibitor.) But I didn't go to see Nugent. I guess he got into a rant about Mayor Daley (hey, in Northern Ill, We love Da Mayor!) and people got up and left. That's what Nugent is up to, now. Playing County Fair shows before the tractor pull. LOL.

    Hi all,
Ted Nugent? Oh yeah-I saw him at that "made Altamount look like a picnic" Stevens Point WI Rock Festival in 1970. All the lineup at that full technicolor bummeramma was second rate. That was what? Two years before the Stones put out their last decent album? "Exile on Main Street"... good stuff! So the Stones have a song that gives the neocons a good swift kickinnabutt? I hope it's a good song! These swaggering, arrogant NC bastards could use a comeuppance. Those bastards basically made the Iraqi resistance all it is today with the highhanded robber baron bullshit they practiced over there after the end of conventional hostilities (did ANYBODY in the Bush ADM ever hear of the French in Algeria or the Russians in Afghanistan?). It's been getting pretty weird over here in US society what with a bunch of people who should more rightly be supervising McDonalds franchises running the show.
