Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth Korn (before they were popular in 1995) Les Claypool (of Primus, etc.) Zen Dog (of Cypress Hill) Shannon Hoon (of Blind Melon before he OD'd) Julian Marley Damian Marley Art Alexakis (of Everclear) Marcelo (from Soulfly) I think there's more but I am spacey.... Have u guys met any rock stars?
Ozzy Osbourne (Ozzy/Sabbath) Jake E. Lee (Ozzy, Bad Lands) Brad Gillis (Ozzy, Night Ranger) Rudy Sarzo (Whitesnake, Ozzy, Dio, Rainbow) David Coverdale (Whitesnake) Saul Hudson or Slash (Guns 'N Roses) Ronnie James Dio (Black Sabbath, Dio, Rainbow) Vivian Campbell (Dio, Whitesnake, Def Leppard) Tommy Lee (Motley Crue, lotsa sex with Pam Anderson) Chris Oliva (Savatage) Steve Vai (Vai, Whitesnake, David Lee Roth, Zappa) Yngwie Malmsteen (Malmsteen, Alcatrazz, The Rising Force) Joe Satriani (Satriani) Angus Young (AC/DC) Malcom Young (AC/DC) Til Lindemann (Rammstein) Richard Kruspe (Rammstein) Oz Fox (Stryper) Jason Becker (Cacophony, Jason Becker) Marty Friedman (Cacophony, Megadeth) Klaus Meine (The Scorpions) I've found that if you want to meet your favorites, it's best to go to large functions because the artists are usually more open to fans at things like G3 and Montreaux where other artists are playing. I'm not sure why, but it's a little harder at a show where they're headlining. It's also a good idea to go to a school for the instrument you're interested in because you'll meet a lot of the guys you like there while they're doing guest spots. That's where I met Becker, Friedman, Fox, Campbell and Gillis, and I met Vai, Malmsteen and Satriani at G3, so it was a bit easier as they probably didn't want to be shown as being the "asshole artist who wouldn't talk to his fans". People I'd like to meet before I die: Tony Iommi (Original Sabbath) Michael Romeo (Symphony X) Jimmy Page Robert Plant Eric Clapton David Gilmour Frank Zappa,... oh wait... DAMMIT!
i've met a few (as in a brief handshake and hello). the only one i can really say i met and really talked to was les claypool, of primus. he sat down next to me on a couch wearing a big goofy cowboy hat and we had a brief discussion about over-priced nachos. he was really chill.
awesome. I forgot to add moby to my list. I always get really excited to meet fAmous people. I know they are just human but I still get so stoked.
I met dick of the subhumans. I met siouxsie steve and budgie of siouxsie and the banshees. I met Darth Vader at a JC Penny's when the original star wars was out in 77, but I bet it was just a tall guy in a costume. I used to sell acid to Joey Hernandez of the VooDoo Glow sKulls back in High School.
I once had a nice talk with Brian 'too loud' McLeod, Guitarist for Chilliwack and The Headpins. He has since passed on, from cancer I think, way too young. I saw him standing by himself in a bar, and just wanted to tell him that when I saw the headpins at a club in van, he blew me away. He was THE master of the potshot. The album 'Turn it Loud' by the headpins gives a good taste of his talent. I think thats it......just him. I had dinner one time at the seat of a table right beside Michael J Fox, I nodded to him, but then just let the family eat their dinner in peace. It was cool though, the whole restaurant was a sea of hushed murmuring and turning heads.
I always say I want to be a big time rock star some day, and then I remember people saying stuff like this, and reconsider. Sometimes I think I'd rather continue to be a nobody living in quiet desperation; It might be easier.
sweet. when I was little I dreamed of meeting Michael J. Fox. I wento the Columbus Zoo when I was maybe 9, and I met met "Jungle Jack" Hannah and I asked him if he had met Michael J. Fox when they filmed Family Ties there one time. He didnt seem to know what I was talking about. ah, the memories....
Ya, I was happy to have been able to see him, his wife, mom, and kids as they are. He and his wife look quite different up close with none of the makeup etc. on. I felt no need to say hi, or disturb them, and I know it must get frustrating for big stars, dealing with gushing fanatics that blabber, ogle, ooh, and aah while they ruin their 'idol's evening. How ironic.
Rockstars I've met: That's it. It doesn't help that my parents don't want me going to concerts. Oh well..
Ray & Robby from The Doors, Ian Astbury (Cult, Doors of the 21st Century) Ben Jelen Gavin DeGraw The Thrills Paul Banks (Interpol) though it was only a handshake & "Nice 2 meet u" rolls eyes
i do want to be a rock musician, with a passion - but i don't care for fame. the reason i want to make it is so i can play music every day, and speak to thousands of different people. playing live is such an incredible rush, doing it every night would be amazing. have a look at www.tankus.tk Jaz
Ive met Jerry Cantrell from Alice in Chains Thats about the only cool famous person Ive met. Well, Ive met all the family of a certain rockstar who passed on, but that doesnt count right?
Shannon Hoon <3 I went to his vigil in IN and his family simply blew me away, such sweet, loving people welcoming everyone into their homes w/ arms wide open. Ive never felt so special b/c I was treated with so much love!
