For anyone attending the protest in NY in August during the Republican Nat'l Convention, organizers are trying to educate newbies to the fundamentals of "peaceful protesting" so you don't get your head banged around, and also so the protest isn't perceived around the world as being destructive. This website provides some tips on how to protest peacefully, resisting arrest "peacefully" and how to demonstrate in ways that aren't (hopefully) perceived as a threat by police.
