Ripple: new open source peer-to-peer payment system

This could potentially be really big. Sending and receiving different currencies all over the world within seconds and almost without any cost.
It issues 'ripples', or XRP, which could be seen as credits or crypto-currency. They can also be traded as currency and I believe the potential of this project is great, it could change the way fiat currencies are traded and possibly even become a global decentralised currency.

Check their website at ripple.com and sign up if you like it, they will be giving away a lot of 'ripples' in the coming weeks/months, so might as well get some for free. And remember your favorite bird if you get filthy rich.
