suicide. i grew up watching him, he was one of my heroes.... truly sad. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/08/11/robin-williams-dead-dies_n_5670050.html http://big.assets.huffingtonpost.com/robinwilliamsdead.pdf
He always made me laugh, but there was one thing about him that always bothered me. Whenever he was asked a serious question in an interview, he always answered it as a fictional character. He was never comfortable being himself, even for a moment. I knew that wasn't emotionally healthy, so it made me wonder what was going on with him.
Well spotted Karen. I understand he battled with his demons for a long time. It always seemed hard to pin him down on anything serious which is not a good sign I think. A truly wonderful character. He was the most incredible ad-libber I ever saw.
Carpe Diem. Sieze the day. Good words to live by. "Dead Poets Society" is my favorite of the Robin Williams serious movies.
He was one of my favorite actors as a kid growing up. My acting teacher from high school had the privilege of working with him on a few projects. I recall being told that Robin had some personal space issues and was kind of an off-the-wall person.
There is (one believes) always a Tortured Soul that resides alongside those with Creative Genius ... sadly Although, the legacy of such legend is that their Laughter remains - "Nanu, Nanu" Robin
Does he have something of a military upbringing? I believe he takes that life as concerned about to the extent that he made out the fictional characters against the military as freeing themselves from the absurdities of war. Even in "the Dead Poet Society" there is the famous quote that exercising your human right to protest was asking for loneliness. I also liked" Good Morning Vietnam". :afro: :alien: :army: :biker:
Was living in Boulder when Robin was doing Morlk and Mindy- - We used to come down from University ave to Pearl street and mingle with the film crew. What a talent - - !!!!!!!!
I can handle the news about a 62 year old actor dying, what I cannot emotionally handle is hearing it was a great comediane, who hanged himself with a belt, after making so many people laugh. (RIP Robin Willians)
I made fun of Ishmail when he came to the door, but when he refused his welcome I laughed no more. He still has it after-death. "Loosing my religion... da , da , da,... da da"
He took care of his good friend and college roomate christopher reeves when he got hurt. Paid for medical bills n stuff. From all accounts an a number one good guy
check out this most touching video of Koko and Robin.... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/08/13/koko-gorilla-robin-williams_n_5675300.html
RIP Robin. BTW, your last act wasn't funny... Gonna miss ya. But not that last TV series. I bet God is laughing now.
Yep. When I was first told "Robin Williams died" but no other comments on it- my first thought was... (not to be harsh but it's true)- "sad but you know, everyone dies so not shocking or anything". But then when I found out HOW he died- yea, that is the part that is just- it's really sad in a totally different way. I'm glad his kids are all grown, as it would be worse if they were still children but regardless still very sad that he had 3 kids and all.
Yea, I saw about that on the 20/20 special they had over the weekend about the life and death of Robin Williams. Based on that, just things you can kinda just tell about him and his personality and also what they were showing on 20/20 about how he really lived in his neighborhood like a regular person (non celebrity).... that everyone around there at the different shops-book stores, bike shops, etc.- just saw him as a normal person- "oh, here's robin again on his bike" and what not---anyways, based on those things I can tell he was a pretty good person and def someone people (who knew him) are worse off without.
I was an '80's kid and I remember around '89 or '90 when Nickelodeon started showing Mork & Mindy. Between that show, Aladdin and Mrs. Doubtfire, I grew to love Robin Williams. Seeing his standup literally had me rolling around and laughing to tears! Seeing his serious work like Dead Poet's Society and What Dreams May Come opened up my mind and expanded my soul. He reminds me a lot of my dad, who only passed away a little over a year ago, so the grief of a familial figure and a beloved celebrity hit my heart with a 1-2-punch! RIP Robin and nanu nanu!
RIP Robin Williams. One of my favorite movies with him is Dead Poets Society & Good Will Hunting. I love him as a Comedican. He was halarious in Birdcage, man I can't believe that he's gone. I think it's truly saddening. =(
