Well I normally wouldn't make a thread like this but this one of the only celebrities so far in my life that was influential in a way to my own life. So I do feel sad about this one. I'm just glad I was able to see Motörhead while I could. Even though I hold them responsible for my tinnitus. RIP Lemmy. unk:
RIP LEMMY.. dang, I thought he only had about ten years on me.. tough one to grasp even though he was up there in the age, ida never thought Id be reading the great lemmy has passed away, I seen them on the concert setting once, and most memorable on the Young Ones.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOAz4nPNvLI
I thought only 3 things would survive the Apocalypse. Keith Richards, Cockroaches and Lemmy. I guess I was wrong. I read somewhere that he was among 3 or 4 rock stars who donated their bodies to science to see why they lived as hard as they did for as long as they did and survived as long as they did. C/S, Rev J
He was diagnosed with cancer on Dec. 26th... Obviously he was living with it for longer than that and not saying anything.
I read that he walked of stage Sept 1, saying "I can't do it". They said it was altitude sickness at that time.
I more remember Lemmy as a member of Hawkwind than Motorhead. As a hardcore Hawkwind fan, this is super devastating news. Listening to one of my all time favorite albums that he was in "Space Ritual as an honor to Lemmy. RIP :'( http://youtu.be/HYAd0-ifNlM
Stevie wright died a couple days ago too, been a big week for rock guys keeling over. They usually come in threes....
We found out at Dead and Company, when the house music became Motörhead. I texted my kid, to pass a strange juxtaposition along, and she replied, "having a drink in lemmy's memory." I broke the news to our section, some 50 or so people.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yao_T2adl14 Big Hawkwind fan here but never saw them with Lemmy in it. I did came across Motorhead on many festivals so that's how I remember him most strongly :cheers2: Haha, yeah
More a Hawkwind fan than a Motorhead fan but it's always sad when such a superstar falls off his (or her) perch.......
I love Hawkwind and Motorhead. I only wish I got to see the man myself but I grew up with his work. A true inspiration! RIP
RIP Lemmy - You will be seriously fucking missed on this Earthly plane. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkBDkwa_WrU
Well now I'll share a second hand Lemmy story: One of my friends used to have a roommate who was a meth dealer. One night Motorhead was in town and my friends roommate got a call to meet Lemmy at a bar to make a deal. Lemmy bought what to the average tweaker a weeks supply, dumps it in a beer and chugs it. They said he acted like it was nothing for the rest of the night. C/S, Rev J
