riot grrrl movement

so i like sleater kinney, bikini kill, bratmobile, heavens to betsy, huggy bear, the butchies, etc........... what bands of that sort do you guys like?

 

bikini kill rocks... i can only post every 30 seconds, so im waiting

 

I consider alot of bands a part of that movement,even bands that are just female fronted.
Bikini Kill...Le Tigre...L7...Bratmobile...The Avengers...Tilt...The Bangs...The Eyeliners...Sleater Kinney...The Donnas....and I could go on and on. There are so many great bands that are powered by females..

 

yeah i agree a lot of bands helped with that

 

maybe we can start a discussion about the the things that the riot grrl movement includes on in an other thread? i think that will be very cool...
then the riot grrl bands i like: lunachicks, l7, gravy train (you definatly have to listen to this!!!), sleater kinney, bikini kill...
i don't like le tigre anymore, there are some really bad stories about them (like doing a song with PARIS HILTON????) and besides that i dont really like their music.

some non riot grrl bands i like (with sometimes songs wich concludes feminist things): crass, dirt, mihoen, ani DiFranco, x ray spex

haha well they sounds so cool, i dont know. you just have to hear it!! it's a bit electric and screamin voices. i just can't describe it!! you have to hear all but i'll pick some for you "hella nervous" "you made me gay" "johnny make up" "stop the wedding"

the only "riot grrrl" band i have ever gotten into is sleater-kinney. Dont know why, they are just fun to listen to

what exactly is a riot girl band? i mean i know some that i listen to that are (L7, bikini kill) but i heard someone say that just a girl fronted band counts. so like otep? or kittie? or does it have to come from that era?

 

i dont know. i think it has to do with the message, like about girl power and rights, and not about the era. icant remember what kittie sings about, but i really dont think their riot girl. it also got to do with the sound, which is really undescribable to me.
