in America, what happened to them? The county is no longer run by the people (the general populous) but a corporate elitist class of dictators.
I think this is one of the best best questions to be asked these days... and many people need to be asked this... loudly and repeatedly. Also blame a gullible electorate who keep favoring legislation sold under the premise of either national security or safety that does little beyond increasing the tax burden and eroding rights and freedoms. The bait in large part is the almighty dollar... and the key it seems is for the population as a whole to collectively coordinating our spending power to reward those enterprises, labor unions, and corporations that do not forcibly bend congressional ears by bankrolling campaigns. As far as having a voice... we have plenty but we are assured of no audience... unless we are fiscally able to densely stuff a Range Rover to the roof with $100's. It has been a long while since I've seen that... since-- well, never. The thing is that we consistently show that we just plain aren't paying that much attention.... and not paying attention has become so easy and convenient these days. We don't seem to care that coordinated criminal activity has handed much of our potential liquidity to the banking sector... not to mention robbing the retirements of hard working people. It doesn't strike any sort of chord that a chunk of our sovereignty has been signed away... we tolerate illegal wars based on flat out lies, disingenuous pledges to break our addiction to oil; we've grown so desensitized to the whole concept of corruption that we seem to collectively accept it like beaten dogs. We've allowed many things to slip away in the interest of economic growth, job stimulus, and general security- we've ceded so much of the economy We do not ask why.... and almost no one seems to care enough to ask what the fuck happened.
that link is fucked. i guess i'm just an example of someone who is un-informed i feel like i need a gun and an escape plan after reading that shit
We're all poorly informed so don't feel so bad... I think the first order of business is to establish an independent source of information that among other things dissects proposed legislation and educates the voting public about what unrelated crap gets slipped in.... and who's responsible for hijacking potential bills to effectively rule against the will of the majority. ...and a gun, some ammo, and a good escape route might not be the worst idea. The overwhelming weight of complacency among us is what's giving the criminals in congress the power to do what they are doing.
it has nothing to do with capitalism, laziness, or money its because most of us in this country are fucking cowards. land of the brave my ass all these people who are so damn scared of terrorists or this and that stop being so fucking scared. when you are scared you give up your rights. thats how it happened. blaming fast food and material possessions has absolutely nothing to do with it. its the cowardice of the general population
We have plenty of rights, whether the American people choose to exercise those rights is a different matter. It's not like this is an American problem, it's a general first world issue of being complacent with a very wealthy lifestyle. To be pragmatic though, Americans as with most first worlders do in fact have excellent rights.
i agree with your 100% madcap, even though our rights that the constitution of this country assure us of are threatened and taken away here and there, we still have more rights than pretty much anyone else on this planet. but that still shouldnt be enough. every single right that were are assured when we are born americans should not be taken away without due process, and they are, in many cases. so thats what upsets me.
yes they are. do you have a problem with this? if someone kills someone, their right to life and freedom are taken away, they go to jail and possibly put to death if someone rapes or molests someone, their freedom is taken away (jail) privacy is taken away (registering as a sex offender) if someones rights are taken away for a reason defined by the law, I dont see how there is anything wrong with it if someones rights are violated because of nothing that person did, i do have a problem with it. the patriot act for instance, deprives people of their rights without due process the illegal wire tap scandal, deprived people of their right to privacy without due process (such as proving that person was engaged in illegal acts and a wire tap is justified) is that what you mean? or did I miss the point?
