Anybody else suffer from this? It's also called rebound congestion. Basically, I can't go more than 6 hours without my nasal decongestant. Any longer than that and my nose totally plugs up and it feels like I'm suffocating. It's actually caused me a few panic attacks in the past. Anyway I've been doing some research on it and found a ton of stuff on YouTube by people who have managed to finally quit. Apparently it is a more common condition than I had realized.

I had a Vick's inhaler that actually caused congestion. My doctor explained it to me. You're not supposed to use the thing more than 3 times in 24 hours or something like that or it stuffs you right back up after you use it. He prescribed some kind of steroid for me and then it got better, but I've sworn off Vick's inhalers. :)

I was diagnosed with vasomotor rhinitis about 30 years ago. A later doc told me it’s just a fancy name for mild asthma. I used to have one sinus infection after another until I learned to take a mild antihistamine within ten minutes of an allergic reaction. If I start into a spasmatic condition, I take lots of vitamin C and put eucalyptus oil into a steamer and breathe it. The problem is a spasmatic cycle that causes swelling and lack of blood circulation in the sinus area. It has to be prevented or broken. I rarely have serious episodes now, but there was a time I had six episodes each winter and was on antibiotics most of the time. What causes a reaction? Exposure to chemicals, perfume, smoke........going from hot to cold.....going from cold to hot....and stress, to name some causes. It’s a bear to deal with. Hope you get better.

25 Years Ago I Was A Big User Of "Vicks Sinex" Sprays......Had Them In The Car......In My Pocket......

Literally Everywhere......Then A Friends Wife Told Me You Can Get Addicted To Them......So I Threw

Them All Out And Cleared My Nose By Snorting A Solution Of Warm Salty Water......Never Looked

Back......They Say That The More You Use Them......The More You Have To......Good Riddance I Say.... :(

    Cheers Glen.
