Hey all, I wrote something that came to my mind when I found this interesting looking stone in my backyard. Thought I'd share it. (Go easy, people, I'm new here) The Stone What possibilities lie in a little stone? What secrets does it hold? What stories does it contain? What gateways can it unlock? For a stone is anything one imagines it to be. Turn it over in your hand, in your mind. Examine its infinite faces, the grooves that speak of a not negligible existence, the smoothness that testifies to an unbreakable spirit. As you look and see, imagine. Imagine- it hurtles through space, cold, devoid of life, an asteroid, escaping confining gravities, tumbling through space, traveling forever -it travels sedentarily, tracing a fixed path, a planet, dreaming not of flying, but of nurturing, millions of lives on its surface, billions -it burns, fiery, feisty, a star, throwing out, giving, all it can, blazing triumphantly in the darkness, powerful -it lies calmly, the weight of infinite drops on it, the ocean, bearing witness to unrestrained life, mysterious, amazing, wet, watching, learning -it falls through the air, the hand of a child closing around it, throwing it up, fleeting flight, a pause as forces rearrange themselves, the return -it is carried , great distances passing beneath it, circling, whirling, a hurricane, flitting between edges, between chaos and calm, plowing through elements, spinning power -it writhes, throwing out white fire, unleashed power, the hands of magic, evoking, channeling life force, a universe flows through it -it lies perfectly still, entombed, the walls of a great structure, not a prisoner, an observer, resting, knowing that all walls fall, new experiences await -it stays in its furrow, content, for millennia, great beasts trod on it, disappear, reappear, life shifts, changes all around it, it watches -it crumbles, turns to dust, so fine, a gust of wind carries it everywhere, assimilated, as all things are, into the cycle of life, one day a planet, another an insect, one day you.
Very good. Did you know the lyrics to "America the Beautiful" were written on the summit of a 14,000 foot mountain (Pikes Peak, Colorado)?
