I'm starting dreads and I need some. What brands of soap are residue free?

Yeah, I need help on this one too - for now I am using Dr. Bonner's which seems like its working alright, but I just want to make sure that is ok. Any info on residue free soaps would be very helpful! Thanks friends!

check out www.lush.com. I'm pretty sure they'd have dread soap.

dr. bronners is the best! it's just a good all-purpose earth friendly soap. please don't go out and spend money on something called "dread soap". who knows what's in that stuff, anyway!? also, for dreads, i've found it's easier to use the bar soap instead of the liquid. just my opinion. good luck with your dreads!!

actually i make a dread soap, and i list the ingredients right on the package as well as on my site ~ though mine is a bar soap. i do think it's important that you know what you're putting on your head.

i'm out at the moment though ~ just finished a cross country move and am working on restocking now. but if anyone is interested, send me a pm and i'll let you know when the next batch is ready to be sent out.

sorry, i wasn't referring to handmade crafters when i said that. your soap looks great. and i like that you put the ingredients on the site, most places don't do that. do you ever make your chapstick with something other than peppermint? (i hate mint!)

Thanks for your input, but I'm using a Burts Bee's shanmpoo soap right now, I only clean it once every week or if I get real sweaty.

Dr bronners always left residue in my hair...and I don't even have locks. I've heard lots of other people with dreads say the same thing though. If you're gonna use dr. b I'd suggest sticking with the tea tree stuff, because it's good for your head and (supposedly) helps keep lice away. Neutrogena has an anti-residue shampoo/conditioner treatment that removes build-up. Normally you use it for 14 days and then go back to your old shampoo, but dreads are a different matter.

Dreadhead had some really great shampoo, whoever said you don't know what's in it is wrong. That stuff worked wonders for Sprout's dreads, and it doesn't have any heavy chemicals and fragrances. That is the only brand I can speak for though.
