Republicans have refused to pass any legislation until the tax cuts are extended. Can't wait till Republicans control the house and Democrats fold even quicker on everything than they already do.

lmao they took 2 votes, the 1st vote was on the plan everyone knows, every family making under $250,000, the 2nd vote was to extend the tax cuts for anyone making under ONE MILLION DOLLARS a year. All republicans voted against it.

Now's not the time to be raising taxes on anyone. Who do you think creates jobs? Like it or not, it's the wealthy folks that do that. We've tried it with Obama-nomics and look where that has gotten us, trillions in debt and still unemployment hovering around 10%. Most small businesses that file Chapter S status would be hurt by a tax increasing approaching a million dollars and would force them to lay off more employees or at the minimum hold off expansion. Not to mention the great health care plan which will also levy increased costs on the job creators of this economy, it's so bad the White House has given out over 200 exceptions to some of its mandates. It truly is laughable.

No. Wrong. People like you who believe this stupid tripe are part of the problem. The wealthy hord their loot, that's how they get wealthy.

Actually most jobs are from small businesses and I've never come across many millionaire small business owners. Business revenue =/= taxable earned income News flash, the people raking in 7 digits are generally working in large corporate, publicly traded companies, their job is to create as much profit as possible to shareholders which normally means hiring as few people as possible. Economics 101 beats the bullshit dogma. Christ even Reagan's chief economic advisor, the main driver behind Reaganomics was even on the Colbert report the other night saying it's asinine not to raise taxes on the extreme wealthy given the current financial situation. Tax cuts are supposed to pragmatic, not a panacea.

As the gap between Left and Right continues to grow and politicians stubbornly butt heads, we're sure to experience more unfathomable societal turbulence.

Left strives for social justice by attempting to execute a variety of much overdue, far reaching, systematic reforms while the Right does everything in their power to slow things down, clinging to the past and protecting personal fortunes.

Throughout this debacle, the bounty of corporate greed gets invested into the political party machine, partially driven by a sense of entitlement that ultimately lets wealthy business owners purchase legislative power.

Ahhhh.... the $weet $mell of success!?

It's a vicious cycle that simply cannot be sustained without major consequences.

If this represents the "change" that the majority of American voters wanted so much during the 2008 presidential election, we're ALL screwed.

obama kept our economy above water, without his legislation, unemployment would've reached much higher percentages. i wont comment on debt since every president will always have huge debts (unless they intend to disturb the economy much more than what presidents do now). its all in the fundamentals of money.

america requires this back and forth shift from left to right back and forth. because one certain direction will create a pattern that always attacks itself. if the US underwent multiple republican terms, the economy would boom then crash like its done multiple times, its the fundamentals of the free-market system. if it went through multiple democratic terms, the economy would become more static, the benefits of business would diminish, creating a not enough of a powerful economy to compete with other countries.
the back and forth pattern is beneficial because a right-wing approach can boom an economy, but as its crashing, a left-wing approach can stabilize it.

then you have the corruption which is just coming from all sides, which is just fundamentally part of our entire system.

the things you complain about are bullshit, and they lack consciousness.

I live in a hick town of 490 peple.Very high unemployment. If it wasn't for a handfull of millionaire small business owners, there would be hardly any jobs.& most of their money is in assets, not shareholders.to increase taxes on them, would mean loss of jobs in an already depressed area.we had a quarry & concrete plant shut down that employed 200 pluss ppl..that's a helluva lot in a small area like this.wal mart ran out all the mom & pop stores, then up & moved out.A tax increase on anyone would devastate this area.& don't get me started on Obamacare. My wife is a nurse & can't afford health care.To force us to pay for it when we don't want it would probably leave us homeless. Not to mentioin, contrary to Obama's belief,I don't know a single doctor or nurse who approves of it.

Yea but the last 2 years have shown Obama will fold quicker than someone with a pair of 2's in a game of poker.

That's odd because most nurses and doctors around here seem to pretty supportive. Most doctors who are "against" the bill are against it because of how shitty the final copy wound up, a majority of doctors supported the house version with a single payer option
    http://www.californiahealthline.org...ians-Back-Public-Option-in-Health-Reform.aspx

Also please tell me how a tax increase would hurt business. Don't spout dogma, BUSINESS REVENUE =/= TAXABLE PERSONAL INCOME

People making over a million a year already have as much discretionary spending as they need, anymore money they get they're just going to sit on. Really the creator of Reaganomics, the whole asinine theory of cutting the rich's taxes is even against extending the tax rates. Americans just have a tax cut fetish with absolutely no knowledge of economics.

    Yeah but??

Attributing things to him that he hasn't said or done as a reason to dislike him, is more then a little fucked up you know...

Making such a claim and then switching it to, the past two years, is even more fucked up...

Seriously, you are acting like a republican....

None around here do.As far as taxes hurting the business, think about it.Just because you made a mil, don't mean you're not putting 8-900,00 thou out in expenses. My old boss & her husband, rest their souls, were millionaires, but on paper, with multiple businesses to run, employees to pay..I know that's all a write off,but unless you keep track of every little thing,it ain't gonna work.not to mention, the assholes already get most of your money back some way or another.Prime example,Obama's new energy tax.what the hell am I supposed to do,sit here in the dark & freeze,or use power?
