All true enough. I'm beginning to think that serious mental illness is now rampant in this country. When as many people can be convinced of the daily lies by the right wing , talking heads media ----can truly believe that trump is NOT a mentally ill person , that republicans are honorable, honest representatives of anyone other than the super rich and corporations----as is apparent now----democracy is on the way out. We are in deep shit ! Trump is just the catalyst that brought to the fore--the true feelings of right wing legislators and their sycophants that seemingly don't have the sense of a nest of piss-ants relative to what you, erofant , mentioned about the actions of Russia and China. The crazy have begun to run the asylum and half of us just love it!!
    Pogo was right!!

This country is in very VERY sad shape ............ in numerous ways. Truth, integrity, ethics, morals, common sense, and maybe the biggest shit show of all .............. that we're eerily - and possibly hopelessly - divided when Russia and China are "loading up." Picture a playground full of unruly kids fighting amongst themselves over who's "right, and toughest" - while surrounded by tanks, bombers, missiles, and millions upon millions of soldiers ready to show the kiddies the real answer of who'll be controlling the playground from now on. Russia and China are coming to control the whole world - and the key to that control is to take down the U.S.

    JUST KEEP WATCHING,
    folks.

And like it or not - the REPUBLICAN PARTY is at the C-E-N-T-E-R of the rot & corrosion with their constant lies, conspiracy theories, voter suppression, gerrymandering, bigotry, and never-ending attacks on WORKING FAMILIES. Their legislation (passed) and attempts at other legislation that put working families (which include MANY MILLIONS of Republican - voting families) behind the 8-ball ........... while giving HUGE TAX BREAKS and LOOPHOLES to the very richest and big corporations ............. belies what the REPUBLICAN PARTY claims to be doing for "everyday Americans." Watch the legislation they write and try to pass ........... DO NOT listen to what they claim. Their lips lie, but their pens betray their hidden agendas for the very wealthiest & corporations.

Remember this ............. "good ol' Ronnie Reagan" made a nationally televised speech to the nation as President, and said these words - "We're going to change our economy from a manufacturing-based economy to a 'service-based' economy." I watched the entire speech myself ........ so please - no one try foolishly to say it never happened. Too many people saw it to deny it. That was the beginning of the offshoring of "American jobs." Ever since then, our economy has been dismantled for MILLIONS and MILLIONS of American workers. George W. Bush and "tricky Dickey" Cheyney ushered in a MULTITUDE of NEW "free trade agreements" (almost free labor agreements) with as many countries as they could sign with right before Bush/Cheyney left office. - - - - - This is well-documented F-A-C-T. It's 100% unbelievable to me, that so many "faithful Republican voters" can't - or won't - see those FACTS. F-A-C-T-S. They continue to support .......... blindly .......... the very crooks and scoundrels that are sticking it to them when it comes to JOBS. Even the biggest LIAR - Trump - got caught with his pants down by David Letterman on his show when he (Letterman) produced several neck ties made by Trump's businesses in China and Bangladesh ........... while Trump was claiming he was all for American jobs!!!!!!!!!! I watched THAT as well. Trump was 40 shades of red and his reply was this, "Well, they make nice ties there. They need jobs too." - - - - - What a lying piece of shit. Caught red-handed on national TV.

And yet millions of people bought into his BIG LIES. And still believe in that lying a$$hole !!!!!!

And NOW .............. after his shit-show and BIG LIE about winning the 2020 election ......... REPUBLICAN-controlled state legislatures around the country are quickly passing - or are racing to pass - voting legislation that will disenfranchise millions of voters. They are doing this by re-drawing voting districts so only Republicans can win those districts (called "gerrymandering"), and shortening voting hours, making voting by mail harder with more restrictions, and absentee voting harder. They also (childishly) made it a crime to give water to voters standing in line. Does A-N-Y of this sound like ways to get more voters to the polls to hear the American voters' voices .............. or is it very obvious the REPUBLICAN PARTY knows their "message" isn't what the American population wants??? They know they can't win without cheating the system - changing rules to make it impossible for Democrats ........ or any other party ........ to beat them in a FAIR race.

All while trumpeting "freedom and liberty" !!!!!!!!! (but they - Republican politicians - want to be the ones who decide who gets the "freedom and liberty.) The REPUBLICAN PARTY can be described with 2 words ..................... lying hypocrisy.

Returning to the original posting, the aim of corruption is personal gain. Personal gain doesn't seem to be the case with regard to state election laws. Fascist? Not really fascist either. It doesn't fit the definition. Not fascist corruption by any "book" definition, but still politically motivated and problematic.

How big a problem? Not hair-on-fire big. More like a stubbed toe.

Put aside the theories involving a vast right-wing conspiracy, and what you've got are members of a national party on the decline acting relatively independently in states here and there, to try to enhance their standing. North Dakota, Oklahoma, and Wyoming (the reddest states) are not planning to invade and conquer Massachusetts, Vermont, and Hawaii (the bluest states).

The people of Illinois (D+13.4) get along reasonably well with the people of neighboring Indiana (R+20). They haven't militarized their 159-mile shared border. It isn't a titanic struggle between the forces of good in the Land of Lincoln against the forces of evil in the the Crossroads of America, nor the reverse.

Would it be nice if there wasn't so much variation in election laws from state to state, ane election practices from county to county, township to township, and precinct to precinct? Well, fascists love centralized control, but nationalizing elections and election laws isn't an identifiable objective of Republicans. A nutcase here and there in either party? Sure.

IDs, suppression, mail-ins, motor-voter, ballot harvesting, the dead voting twice, non-residents voting three times, felons in possession of ballots - see political propaganda for what it is. If you don't like what's happening where you live, run for office, exhibit leadership qualities, and change it.

If you don't like what's happening in the state next door, you should probably either move there and work to change it, or just keep posting online about it if it makes you feel better.

"The Freedom to Vote Act rejected by the Senate this year would have...protected against the voter suppression laws passed last year in 19 Republican-dominated states, which the Texas primary revealed to be as discriminatory as opponents feared: about 13% of mail-in ballots, 23,000 of them, were rejected in a state that in the past rejected about 1%. Officials in counties that lean Democratic rejected mail-in ballots at a higher rate than officials in counties that lean Republican: 15.1% to 9.1%."

Yeah, everyone knows that he's a screw loose cannon, but he continues to get press in the news all the time. There are seven republican candidates vying for his seat I think if they simply published a few publicly known facts, he'd get thrown out on his ass - but he's a gun nut and a Trump Butt-Boy. Let's see, he falsely claimed his partial paralysis was service relate - no, he was rejected for service, he and his party boy pal wrecked the car on the way back from spring break with it being unclear who was driving and how he lied about 'saving' his buddy from the fiery wreck AND ends up suing him. Second, over a hundred women from his sole semester at college accuse him of being a sexual predator. Third, he has had no formal education above high school, nor has he held a real paying job beyond fast food, just a lot of Daddy Money. Fourth, he is a self proclaimed Hitler fan, he's even been to Hitler's summer home as a US envoy proclaiming what a wonderful point in history it had. Fifth, and by no means the last, laws do not apply to him. He has been charged with driving without a license multiple times recently, stemming from many speeding issues. You and I would have our car impounded and been hauled off to a holding cell. He has such a bad rep with his constituents, he is trying to run in a different district.

So instead of running articles on him 'unifying the party from the mountains to the coast' why not focus on all the legislation he's successfully authored and passed for these people of North Carolina ? It would make for a very short article, "zero".

Oh, it goes on and on with him. Rich frat boy goes to Washington....
