I've been selling on ebay for over a year now and have had fairly good luck with it for all but this last auction. I sold my item and had very plainly stated a resonable time frame for payment as well as payment type. The time period for payment has gone by now by 2 days and I've sent an email to the buyer but they haven't responded. I was just wondering how much grace I should give the buyer before reporting the item as unpaid. Anyone else have experiences such as this? If so, I'd like to hear how you dealt with the issue. I don't want to be hard on the buyer but I do want to get paid.
that sucks : ( im not sure how to go about it.. just sending some good thoughts your way. maybe email the person and say they have until the end of the day before you report them.. ?
i would report it immediately. i don't hesitate. usually when someone hasn't payed me and it's a day or two away from the final due date, i'll just send them a very polite heads up reminder....just in case they forgot. This way, there's no excuse come the 7th or 8th day (or however many days you're giving them to pay) if they haven't paid. And in most cases where they haven't payed almost immediately, or soon after....they don't end up paying at all.
Thanks so much for the responses gals I sent the buyer another email and told them that I would extend the pay period until 7pm tomorrow evening after which time, if there is still no payment, I will report the item as unpaid.
good job It has happened to me as well... I ask payment within 5 days, and 99x/100 I get payment within 24hrs, which is nice. But with one person, a week had gone by w/o any payment. I had written her, giving her 48 hours to pay or I'd report it as unpaid and relist it. It got a bit confusing, she didn't pay until 4 days after that notice (instead of the 2 that I gave her) and she was a bit upset that I had relisted the item and it already had bids. After she had written me a few angry notes, I simply stated that on all my items I ask payment be within 5 days, and she very clearly waited much longer. Naturally I refunded her money. Of course, she threatened that she would never shop from me again, but I really didn't care because with the way she did business, I'm better off without such a customer. I don't mean that to be mean, but despite the adage that the customer is always right, there are just some that are a pain in the butt and I can do without!
Well, the customer ended up not paying for the item on time and the I reported the item unpaid. I gave her ample time and I was very polite and business-like when dealing with the issue. Now she has a strike against her and she's really angry. Can she ruin my ebay rap for her negligence?
im not sure if she can leave negative feedback, considering she never even paid......besides, even if she leaves a negative comment, i dont think it will damage your rep at all....it's just one out of however many good ones you have.
