I was just curious but does anyone smoke, drink, or do any drug and read? This can be occasional or frequent, either way.

I always enjoyed reading fantasy books like Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter high(yes, Ive read HP haha), I'm not sure why. But certain things like philosophy or more serious matter I dont like to. Anyone else read while high?

I read the Art of Happiness by the Dalai Lama partially high. When I was high, the messages struck home much more firmly and I think if I was straight the book wouldn't have affected my life as much as it has. The next deep and philosophical book I read I will definitely try smoking up (like The Power of Now is really hard to get into straight) and see how I go.

I like to read when I'm stoned, it's just I end up having to reread parts later because I've forgotten what I read. Haha

I read The Dharma Bums mostly high/drunk on the beach in Florida and that memory stays with me all the time. I remember certain parts of the book as if I had those experiences firsthand.

I don't like to do that too much because I'd probably just forget what I read. I'd read when I'm burnt out but not high.

It's difficult and I usually lack the motivation. However, reading is a nice activity for the less intense burn outs.

I don't read when I'm high (on pot). If I do read, it would be an art book or something because I can appreciate that. When I try and actually read, I don't absorb much of it and it ends up just being frustrating. I don't get high much anymore because it just makes me much too slow for anything genuinely philosophical or more intellectual than existential burrito eating.
So yes, I'm incredibly impaired by it and that's probably why I don't get high much anymore.
Interestingly, I can read when I'm drunk (not hammered or anything) and still absorb much of it.

But...I love getting high, and reading out loud along with a jazz CD, trying to imitate Jack Kerouac's voice and rhythm.

I like to read when I'm baked, but it's pointless because I forget everything afterwards hah

Eh it depends. This time in my life is the only time where I've smoked so much I've built up a decent tolerance. I also smoke so much now that I'm looking for more things to do high, including reading. I thought I would be too ADD to read while high, but I find it easy to get into the story and to....visualize what's happening in the book. Its actually easier to visualize that kind of stuff when I'm high. And I still remember what I read for the most part, as long as it has me hooked into it. If I'm sitting there reading a textbook for class my mind gets bored and I never remember what I read.
