I have used the same electric shaver for 7 years. I was in a grocery store the other day and and razors (not including the handle) went as much as $30!!! wtf im suprised more people don't buy electric. I paid i think $20 - 30 for my electric and it works great. I've never bought a razor in my life and i can't see buying anytime soon. Some guys I know buy razors several times a month and there allowance is not big nor do they have much more facial hair than myself. electric for the win. ?
It's not that expensive. 2 cartages ($20) lasts me around 2 - 4 months, each cartage has 4 razor replacements for Mach 3 Turbo. If you dry off the blades after you shave, the blades will last longer.. I stopped using electric years ago because it always left stubble and it irritated my skin bad.
god razors are SO expensive... i had an electric one before, but it wasnt that great, real blades make my legs nice and smooooth... i just buy disposables..maybe i'll invest in a good razor soon ..
A few years ago I got into wet shaving. I bought two gillette double edge razors off ebay, one from the 1930's the other the 1950's. I got them both for around $30. One's stainless steel, the other brass, they'll last a lifetime. Razors blades are about 30 cents a piece. You can get 5 packs for around 3-4 and the blades last almost a month each.
A good quality razor can last way longer than the equal values worth of crappy razors, not to mention do a better job and do it faster, ... but yes you still kinda cringe when you are going to buy them. As for electrics, I always bought them for my ex, and he claims his latest $30 purchase off ebay works as well as the different ones I had bought him over the years generally between the $200-$400 mark. If a cheapo works that well and they dont irritate you then it would be a much better investment in the long run.
I use electric and it makes my soon to be beard grow back slowly. Everytime I tried a razor the hairs grew back waaay faster haha. With electric it takes a month for a lil bit to show xD Razors feel smoooth and it feels bomb to load on the blue aftershave.
Electric is just a pain, it takes a longer, doesn't get as close, and if you have coarse hair on a skinny neck prone to ingrown hairs, you need the control of a blade.
I stopped using razors and bought one of these to trim once in a while...havent shaved since last october and I like the beard..I wish I would have got the idea of letting it grow earlier before I would just buy disposable razors..usually Gillette because the quality was good and the price seemed within reason (I stock up on stuff when its on sale)
i went electric for a couple decades...then i went razor cause i could afford the good ones but now i have a permanent shadow style beard so the cheap razors are fine with an electric trimmer... last i looked the starter fusion ones was about 15 bucks and the replacement blades are like 10-12 for 6..hey...i saw a documentary on shoplifting that showed how those razors are a very sought after item to the point where they are in special dispensers that make a grinding noise when you open them alerting staff immediately
They're not that expensive, especially cos I use a safety razor with single blades which are dirt cheap.
Flea markets! 8 cartridges for $11 as opposed to $18-20 at the grocery/pharmacy. I know it would make more sense to just buy cheap ones in the first place, but, no. They just don't work as well.
