Hey I came across this video recently, This guy talking about Raw diet, definetly check this out!!!!!!!!! With my allergies being so bad, Im definetly debating this, I'm kinda sick of finding out im allergic to certain items, but I definetly need a plan of attack, ease into this, if i do go this way, but anyways, check this out its quite uplifting, interesting!!!!!! Raw Spirit | by Matt Monarch http://www.rawspirit.org/video2.html Let there be broccolli, Derek
Hear hear, may broccoli fill the air, LOL. Matt Monarch is actually gonna be visiting a Health Food store here soon, doing a talk ! I saw him talk at Raw Spirit Festival last year - http://rawspiritfest.rawmiracles.com/idevaffiliate/idevaffiliate.php?id=111 Honestly, I prefer David Wolfe's approach to raw foods even though Matt definatley has some great insights to offer. David Wolfe will be at raw spirit this year in Arizona and Matt wil be back too What are you allergic too? Most people have wheat and dairy allergies and don't know it cuz their so used to eating so much of those foods... Raw food is definatley the best way to eat. It's how every animal in nature eats, only humans cook food. Fire is rarely found in nature and when it is, it destroys things. When something is burned and cooked down to ash, it's not MORE nutritious. Fire destroys nutrients, it does not magically create them. Fire is not like a vitamin supplement, and it does not create vitamins when you apply food to it. You do have to know what your doing and I recommend David Wolfe videos on youtube for a great intro course to raw food...and knowing how to do it can make a world of difference.
"Raw food is definatley the best way to eat. It's how every animal in nature eats, only humans cook food." Animals also live by "survival of the fittest" and are violent... but peaceloving vegans are always quick to answer that we are "more evolved" than that.
I love raw foods It's especially easy to find raw meals when there is so much fresh produce all around. So this is a great time to start! Winter is tougher though. I'm curious what your allergies are too... I'm allergic/sensitive to pork & shellfish, (hence vegetarianism - the only meats I liked I can't eat anymore) dairy, artificial colors, MSG, raspberries, several herbs, and... something currently in my diet. (working on tracking it down) I am also on a gluten-free diet now, and my body has been reacting VERY well to the change so I may have had a problem there as well. Perhaps we could swap notes on allergen-free tips/recipes? love, mom
I'm glad you are banned... Anyways, I just found a great looking e-book on raw foods called "Miracle Superfoods". It looks really good, I wonder what the fruit of the angels is? I'm almost positive the food mentioned in the e-mail article is raw chocolate though...check it out here - http://gocheck.healthstar.hop.clickbank.net/
Thank you for requesting the article 'Food of the Gods'. I hope you enjoy exploring the benefits of this amazing food and reap the rewards in your life. The Food of the Gods is in fact cacao (aka pure chocolate!) - supremely high in antioxidants, healthy minerals, mood enhancing substances and aphrodisiac properties! This article examines the properties of raw, pure, unrefined cacao which is leagues apart from any commercial chocolate (providing unrivalled antioxidant power and biochemical substances) and contains none of the detriments such as sugar, hydrogenated fats, milk, additives and so forth.
Okay I was tempted to see the article once you posted that...so I entered my e-mail and here is the rest of it : Cocoa beans contain over 300 identifiable compounds making them one of the most complex foods on earth. These include a bounty of antioxidants, healthy minerals, mood-enhancing substances and appetite suppressing agents. No wonder America's leading health guru David Wolfe describes these beans as 'probably the best kept secret in the entire history of food'! Chocolate is every bit deserving of its repute as Food of the Gods, it's Greek name 'theobroma' being a direct translation of this term. 'Chocolate is a divine, celestial drink, the sweet of the stars, the vital seed, divine nectar, the drink of the gods, panacea and universal medicine.' - Geronimo Piperni Originating in the South American rain forests, chocolate has a rich and fascinating history and was once used as a type of currency by the Aztecs. So prized, these auspicious beans filled the treasure vaults of the Aztec Emperor Montezuma, his cacao warehouse holding a reported 40,000 loads (the equivalent of 960,000,000 beans!). 'The divine drink, which builds up resistance and fights fatigue. A cup of this precious drink permits a man to walk for a whole day without food.' - Aztec Emperor Montezuma (circa 1480 - 1520) When the Spanish explorers returned to their home country, they called the cacao bean 'seeds of gold' (pepe de oro) or 'black gold' (oro negro). Its popularity spread across Europe as a luxurious drink that at first only royalty could afford. Today the chocolate industry reaps a staggering $50 billion in retail sales worldwide and there is a growing trend for higher quality chocolate with greater cacao. As will be discovered, cacao can elevate you to states of happiness and joy, spice up your love life, help you look and feel more sexy and beautiful, all the while protecting you against aging and disease. It really doesn't get better than that! What more could one want from a food? Oh, that it taste delicious - well it certainly wins hands down on that one. Antioxidant Supremacy The ORAC Score (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) is the rating scale developed by the US Department of Agriculture to measure the total antioxidant ability of a given food. Pure dark cocoa powder ranks the highest ORAC measurement of all foods at 26,000 units. That's ten times more even than the prestigious blueberry (2,200 units). Antioxidants are potent weapons in our immune system and protect us against aging and disease by neutralizing the hazardous free radicals that damage cells. 'The beverage of the gods was Ambrosia; that of man is chocolate. Both increase the length of life in a prodigious manner.' - Louis Lewin, M.D., Phantastica A study published in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry (Lee et al., 2003) found that regular dark cocoa powder has nearly twice the antioxidants of red wine and up to three times those found in green tea due to their superior concentration of flavonoids. Dutch researchers have also revealed that dark chocolate contains 4 times the amount of the flavonoid catechin found in black tea, a powerful heart-protective and disease-fighting antioxidant (Geleijnse et al., 1999). Master of Magnesium Cacao is the number one food source of magnesium. Magnesium has a relaxing, calming effect on the emotions and nervous system, balances brain-chemistry and promotes strong bones. Its most prominent role, however, is in the cardiovascular system, with a concentration in the heart muscle 18 times greater than in the bloodstream. Magnesium strengthens the heart, decreases blood coagulation and lowers blood pressure. Heart problems are associated with a deficiency of this mineral. Magnesium is also helpful for symptoms of menstruation and can lessen menstrual cramps, irritability, fatigue, depression, and water retention. Levels can drop during menstruation, which is no doubt why chocolate cravings increase at this time. Beautifying Sulfur Cacao contains sulfur, a beautifying mineral that fosters healthy glowing skin and lustrous strong hair and nails. Sulfur is an essential component of connective tissue and is found in collagen, cartilage and keratin. It also supports liver and pancreas function and plays a role in the removal of toxins from the body. Appetite Suppressing MAO Inhibitors Serotonin is known for it's appetite suppressing qualities. The tryptophan in chocolate increases levels of this neurotransmitter, as do monoamine oxidase enzyme inhibitors (MAO inhibitors) which allow serotonin and other neurotransmitters to circulate in the brain for longer, inducing feelings of satiation as experienced after eating. Dr. Gabriel Cousens, author of Spiritual Nutrition And The Rainbow Diet, claims that MAO inhibitors also promote youth and rejuvenation. Phenylethylamine (PEA): The 'Love Chemical' Phenylethylamine (PEA), known as the 'love chemical' releases dopamine in the pleasure-centres of the brain and peaks during orgasm. PEA is said to induce feelings of excitement, attraction, and euphoria. This chemical is created and released by the brain when we experience being in love - no doubt one reason chocolates are such a favourable gift on valentines day! PEA is also said to enhance mental focus and alertness. Anandamide - Feel Good Factor The neurotransmitter anandamide in cacao, also produced naturally in the brain, is a feel-good cannabinoid that mimics the effects of marijuana and has recently been attributed to the 'runner's high' experienced by athletes. Further, the enzyme inhibitors in cacao decrease our body's ability to break down this chemical, lengthening the time it remains in the body which allows us to experience its effects for longer. Anti-Depressant Properties As well as PEA and anandamide, cacao contains tryptophan that increases levels of the mood-enhancing neurotransmitter serotonin, and lots of magnesium known for its calming, sedative qualities. The MAO inhibitors in chocolate increase the longevity of both serotonin and dopamine in the blood stream, extending their effects. The uplifting effects of chocolate were explored by British psychologist Dr. David Benton at the University of Wales in Swansea. After playing sad music which sank the moods of his students he found that those who ate chocolate as opposed to a carob alternative experienced elevated moods. He also observed a greater desire for chocolate the more moods fell. Aphrodisiac Potency In addition to the emotional enhancing effects of PEA, anandamide and tryptophan, cacao contains 'nature's Viagra' arginine, the amino acid used to enhance sexual arousal and sensation in men and women. In response to sexual stimulation, your body releases nitric oxide (NO) in your genitals that causes the smooth muscles to relax and an increase of blood flow to the area, resulting in an erect pen.is. Arginine is converted into nitric oxide in the body, directly increasing levels in the body. Unsurprising then that the legendary Casanova was a fanatic, as was the highly sexed Aztec ruler Montezuma who reportedly drank 50 goblets of cacao a day to boost his virility between the sheets. Cacao was referred to by Central American natives as 'heart blood' (yollotl eztli). This can be seen as true on many levels. Its remarkable magnesium content and antioxidant potency bring gifts to the physical heart, and its mood-enhancing and aphrodisiac chemicals rouse and nurture the emotional heart. It is a food of sensuality and pleasure and a symbol and offering of love in the rituals of romance. Quality Chocolate As mentioned, the properties of chocolate explored in this article are for pure unrefined cacao which is leagues apart from commercial chocolate, providing unrivalled antioxidant power and biochemical substances and none of the detriments such as sugar, hydrogenated fats, milk, additives, agro-chemicals and solvents. Raw cacao can be purchased over the internet (search for raw cacao powder or 'cacao nibs' if you want ready-peeled beans). David Wolfe and Shazzie's book 'Naked Chocolate' is a great resource and includes lots of mouth-watering recipes for incorporating this food into your diet. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EH6ERC?ie=UTF8&tag=myspace0172-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B000EH6ERC - Raw Chocolate Beans
