so, while im pretty sure i know what the answers will be, i was delighting in some cake batter and thinking about how some people are scared of it, because of the raw eggs. how do you feel about it? do you worry about salmonella?
i dont think you can get worms, ive never heard of that anyway. salmonella can get into eggs, but its not in every egg. the greatest ACTUAL salmonella danger from eggs is in blended egg products, because 1 contaminated egg can infect a whole batch. i think having a decent immune system helps too.
Chances are you fine. Big thing is-if you feel sick the next day see a doctor. But yea I'm not worried.
im a crazy person, i dont like oven smells. So I make cake and drink it.. yum. best cake shake ever..
I eat raw eggs, I'm not afraid of salmonella, but I wouldn't go so far as to drink straight eggs just for the flavour or whatever.. I heard a little while ago that Quebec eggs were salmonella free. I know it's like that in Sweden, anyway, so I really don't care.
Although this may sound disgusting, someone on CureZone posted a Liver Cleanse concoction several years ago. It calls for 3 raw egg yolks (organic, free range, omega-3), a tablespoon of sunflower oil, and 3 fully-squeezed limes, or the equivalent in lime juice. Given the $$$ for that specific oil, I've mostly used olive oil. The less processed the product, the better. To date, I've done this dozens of times, with well over 100 eggs, over the last few years. It's actually insanely tasty, assuming all the clear blob material is entirely pulled off / filtered out and it's mixed extremely thoroughly. Now, I sporadically do it for the hell of it. No issues, to date. But as others have suggested when I've posted about it, due to allergen etc. risks, not worth trying. It works for me, but may not for others. It's the only thing I ingest that is not vegan... :ack2:
By first breaking them into one of those tall, narrow, plastic olive jars. They pour back out one at a time.
In junior high i dropped an egg on the floor and cleaned it up but didn't wash my hands. I threw up that night. So yeah....
im not against it, but i have had salmonella poisoning twice, and its not fun. i have an issue with eggs. i wont eat eggs unless they are prepared by me. I wont eat eggs at a restaurant, dont eat egg noddles, and i wont eat eggs sunny side up. once i was making some eggs and oneof the eggs was bloody. ever since then, i break my eggs separately.
You'd never make it on a farm then... standard practice is to break each egg seperately for that very reason. You never know what you may discover when you open a real egg.
^ In this thread, at least. Undoubtedly there are many on the entirety of this forum who don't, however, so you're far from alone. Thus far on some I've seen tinges and tiny spots of red, but I've always ignored them and continued on.
i only like raw yolks, the whites are nasty when uncooked.. unless of course it's in cookie dough or meringue or something. and from my understanding, only the whites can contain salmonella, and if it's a properly separated egg there shouldn't be any risk for the yolks to be contaminated.
a tiny spot of blood is fine. I mean, this one looked like it was on its heavy day of its period. lol
i eat a raw egg every day in my protein shake. I've been doing it for years and i've never had salmonella.
