How is Syd Barrett pronounced? I always thought it was "bare-it" but I heard an interview where it was pronounced differently.

I've always said "Bare-it." That seems right to me, but what do I know? [IMG]

When I first read this, I was like, "bare-it"? wtf? Then I realised the American accent factor... I laughed. ;)

It's more like what queen_of_light said. Just say it in a London accent.

Syd Bahret me ol' mucka!! :D

i think it depends on your accent, in northern englang (farmer land) we would say it like ba-ret but with more od an 'UH' sound

That sounds about right to me; bare-it? Who says bare-it? That's unusual.

That's true, I think it can be amusing when you try to spell things phonetically in different accents, although I think you often don't tend to notice your own accent very much.

When I was in Arizona, everyone kept saying "I really love your accent," and I kept on thinking, accent? What accent?

How would Robin Leach say it?

I like how the English say Martin. Maaah-tin
    and area. aree-er Canader
    or pure pyu-ah
    strawbrees, extrawdinree, jagyuah,

And in Boston, how they say car, yard, bbq, card, etc. cah, yahd, bah bee que, cahd.

John Cleese of Monty Python pronounces his name like cheese

    or who can translate this?

Deys toity doity boids sittin on a coib eatin woims. And what accent am I butchering?
