Yeah...even at 11, and even in 1976 that was kind of disappointing.
She was the widow of a man who owned a small chain of grocery stores.
It was on July 5th, the day after the 4th fireworks show. I lived near the park and was walking along the trail and saw something over next to a tree about 20 ft off the trail.
    And there it was.
They never caught who stole it, apparently they took about $10,000 and must have stashed it to come back later.
Hah!! Imagine what they thought about me!! "Damn nosey kid!!!"
At any rate it makes for a good story when I tell the whole thing, but I can't type that fast to tell it all here.

    Yes.

My daughter will be her Maid Of Honor.

At first I thought, "Cool! I'll get to shop for a dress!"

Then I thought, "I'll never feel like I got something exactly right enough for this occasion. I better start thinking now."

I met an off-duty sheriffs deputy today who was actually a pretty cool dude to talk to. Hung out with him for about 45 minutes at work. He seemed like one of the good guys. At one point, we were talking about filming the police and I said "With all of the crazy videos all over the internet these days, I can't really blame people for wanting to record encounters with the police." He said "I completely agree! I don't blame them one bit!"

At another point, I was telling him about this ex-cop who was getting divorced from one of my wife's friends. My wife was helping her friend through it and this guy was making veiled threats about having her pulled over and arrested with planted evidence. That really got this guy going. It was kind of refreshing to hear a cop say "That's complete bullshit. We aren't supposed to be using our authority to intimidate people. I'm glad he's fired and I hope he never gets hired anywhere else again."

Edit to say....he was also happy that his dept. now wears body cameras. He said that they shouldn't have anything to hide when the public wants to see what happened during a specific event.

has anyone notied that the show cops has changed?....it used to be all dudes in wife beater teeshirts getting slammed by burly cops and led away in cuffs and now its all ''an we find you a bed at a shelter?'' and ''do you need us to drive you somewhere'' and ''If I buy you a coffee will you move along and leave this store?''

    they are nice now

Jammed with the "other" band tonight. Not the whole band but just an extra practice to help get me up to speed for the fest in a couple of weeks. I'm not worried right now but it sounds like it might be the biggest crowd I've ever played in front of. I've got this. I'm just the third guitar player. I have a relatively easy role (plus vocals...easy) but one that feels harder right now than my #1 spot in my band. We aren't talking about hundreds of people anymore. This will be new to me. This will be much bigger than I'm used to.

But I'm humbled because I respect these guys so much and they seem to believe in me. I don't even know why. They've been playing longer than I've been alive and they still keep asking me to play with them. I've posted this idea before. The #1 dude said tonight "There is a difference between people who can play..."something" (cover, radio stuff) and people who can just play." I'm there because he thinks I just play.

Well...they're asking me to learn some fairly complicated music (even as #3) in a short amount of time to play in front of a bigger crowd than I've ever played.

I guess I keep posting about this because it's in my head. It doesn't go away. It's like getting in the ring. You must succeed.

It's good to be challenged and not get bored feeling like you've reached a level you're comfortable with! Have fun with this, Wiz!

It seems like everytime I reach a point/time where I do feel comfortable or secure in a routine, things change.

I'll be honest...I like that not changing thing.

But I've begun a new time in my life and I reaize it - taking care of my mother...and its going to take a little getting used to.

I'd also like some valiums to help ease me into this phase. :D

We don't always get what we want....that's where all this freakin character building comes in. yay ;)
