Random Drug testing In Schools

My school's just introduced "random" drug testing. Not sure how I feel about that. I mean, yeah, its good because if there are kids addicted to heroin and stuff then they can get help, but what about disciples of our good lady Mary Jane? I know that there are people in my school who do smoke pot, and their school work doesn't suffer from it, they're nice people, good, all round individuals, so surely they shouldnt get in shit for tokin dope now and then. I hate it when the government tries to control people's lifes. It's like....... If you think about it, the government can do ANYTHING to you, even dissapear you if you upset them or inconvenience them in any way and just blame it on, I dunno, a crazy murderer man.

I don't wanna be controlled by The Man, I don't want my friends or I to get in trouble for smoking dope every now and again, I.. Am suddenly extremely shit scared.

The schools will naturally "randomly" pick kids to be tested who don't conform to the system as much as they should and who are a little outlandish and bohemian. Can they force you to have the tests done? Are you allowed to refuse, on the grounds that you object to having your privacy invaded? How long after you smoke cannabis can they detect it in your blood stream or whatever shit they test?

I've got a really bad feeling now, something bad's gonna happen. Argharghargh shit.

well one thing you can do carry a small vile of bleach with you to school and if you do get a random test dump in the bleach this will fuck up the test also i would look on www.erowid.org look under laws see if any thing pertects you, maybe go down to a local lawyers office and ask some questions

i hate random drug searches. we just had one last week. the search dogs came in as usual but now theyre picking random classrooms and making all the students and teachers leave so they can search there. such bs. theres been an ongoing problem with coc and heroin in my school so theyre trying to crack down on that. last year i was walking back from lunch and the principal stopped my friend and i and was like " you look high. come with me." and they actually checked my friends bloodpressure and asked him a ton of questions. i hate random drug searches

 

i would love to see them ask me if i was high and take my blood pressure id make myslef have a panic attack just to fuck them theyd probly think i was ODing on coke

 

get straight kids to start dressing like stereotypical stoners, even behaving like them, create decoys so that those who aren't too horribly stupid about their toking will be safe, try to throw yourself in too if you know you're clean, if they have too many negative tests they'll eventually stop, the program can only reamin if it justifies it's cost, that's how any buracracy works

 

I wish my school did more random drug testing... we do occasional drug dogs but people normally know about those days in advance so they don't bring pot to school. If people are stupid enough to bring pot to school or to go to school high, they definatly should get caught and kicked out. It's people like that who make trying to learn in public school difficult. ><

Ah, the old days of the police searching you. Thank god I never had anything on me. Police know me, in fact, they watched me for 3 weeks, stole my garbage, all because they thought I dealt drugs.. We had the stupid fucking stoners.. the ones that'd walk out the front door and light that J they had melting away in their pockets.. After the first years of high school, they soon began having more dogs coming in and what not. The first year or so, we had maybe 1 dog search per year if maybe 2. Now, at least 1 or 2 every 2 months. Hell, I don't see why we don't give those dogs something to really sniff.... an opened package of coke

 

Dude, what the fuck? I go to school high because it interacts with my Adderall and gives me a state of mind that allows me to concentrate extremely well and thus learn. I don't bother anybody, none of my friends who I smoke with and what not bother anybody... You must just be surrounded by asshats; don't become what you don't like.

I ended up graduating a year and a half early, and I get to go to college in what would've been my sr. year of high school. Take that, Rush Limbaugh! :H

in the two years that i've been in middle school, i can only remember one time that they brought the dogs in. they locked all the students and teachers in their classrooms and ran the dogs down the halls. i don't think they do drug tests and i hope they don't, cuz even if people have only tried it recently or only do it ever so often like at parties and such, they'll get in deep shit about it. i think it's completely retarded.

Here in my part of Houston, there is a police department assigned totally to the School District. The Spring Branch ISD Police. They bring the dogs in 2 times a month to smell the lockers, but have never done any random drug tests. Most people just carry their stuiff with them anyway and don't leave it in the locker.

 

im lucky cause I go to an art school. It's the most drugged school in my city, but (unlike other schools here, which are publically known even amongst adults to be drug swarmed) they can't tell the board of education because we could possibly get our arts funding cut. xD Testing would never happen also, cause we cut money from text book funds to support our arts, so the testing would be much too expensive.


Not saying though that no one gets caught. A group of people got booked in November, then last week 2 of my friends were suspended and then this week 2 dealers (in partnership) got booked with 40 grams.

As a highschool student, you have no rights. Yes, they can force you to take tests AS LONG AS THE SCHOOL ITSELF is administering them.

Our school is going to have drug testing next year (thank god I graduate this year). The thing is, it's being sponsored and run by a group called NAND (No Alcohol No Drugs), and NOT the school. I'm sure they will be promptly sued when a student is caught with weed in their system, since it is only the school that can test, and not some organization. I can't wait for it to happen; that group passed out anti-marijuana propaganda at school registration at the beginning of the year that was full of lies. Not warped truths, just flat-out lies, the most memorable of which was "Babies can be born addicted to marijuana."

I hope the leaders of NAND get sued for everything they own.

 

Oh, I forgot to mention that NAND thinks they'll be able to have every single student in the school disctrict completely drug and alcohol free by 2009. Oh, the horrendous incompetence.
