Ran over something

I was coming home from the store and something ran out in front of my car. I saw it for a split second out of the corner of my eye, and by the time I could react it was too late. I heard the thud, pulled over and got out of my car to see what it was. Whatever it was, it wasn't there when I got out of the car, so I am hoping I didn't kill it or injure it too badly. I think it may have been a cat, but, like I said, I only saw it out of the corner of my eye for a split second, so it could have been something else. I was a bit upset for a while thinking I may have killed someone's cat, but I am not certain that is what it was. Whatever it was, it was small, had reddish, light brown fur and moved very fast.

Especially if the original intention was roadkill barbecue.

People tend to panic over a tiny animals the car can easily kill and kill themselves trying to avoid it...

Awww, poor thing.
I hit a cat not that long ago. I think I hit its head off the car somehow.
I drove back around to see if it was alright, and it was sitting on the side of the road with its tongue stickin out and stuff It was still alive... I felt so bad for it.

I saw a clip on one of the cable news channels where a truck stopped and picked up a roadkill deer. Someone followed the truck and it went to a restaurant. The restaurant was using roadkill to cut costs. I'm not making this up. They got reported to the authorities.

It was too small to be a fox. I know foxes are quite small, but this was about the size of a cat from what I could tell.
