What happens if you're a muslim and you live in Lapland? You wont be able to eat for a month if Ramadam occurs during the solstice
Allah! Do I actually have to explain the subtelty of my point to you here as well... I mean, obviously if you're a muslim and you live in Lapland, you still eat and drink or else you will die, even though the sun never sets for a few days at least. Or maybe in extreme climates they just wait until the sun sets in Mecca. I don't know. I'm just wondering.
The fasting would be easy enough but I imagine the going without water all day is really difficult I didn't realize until the other day Ramadan moves 11 calendar days every year so it falls in winter sometimes. That must be nice
No it isn't. I know lot's of Muslim people, and I've lived with them and ate with them after sunset during Ramadan sometimes.
It's supposed to be good for you. I'm not so sure about not drinking water through the day in the height of summer though. I fasted for five days once in India, drank only water. Felt very light headed and eventually went for a thali.
Nah, they usually just follow the local time. Unless it's too inconvenient or impossible, like the example above showed.
yeah i never really noticed it was ramadan....i tend to just be friends with non-religious types....i like my friends to be sane
Thats what I was told ! perhaps thats just British Muslims I will ask on Monday ! The only time I was abroad at ramadam I was in Morocco and they also followed Mecca
The Muslims here and in Bosnia just follow the local time. There are so many schools of Islam, its hard to generalize. We are probably all right.
