Instead of sitting around and just waiting for someone to legalize marijuana, why don't we the people do something about it. I saw we launch a huge rally in Washington D.C. to show the government what the people want. Just like the civil rights movement we have to do something about it, and get the attention of the media and the rest of the nation. Let's go to the capitol and smoke all the weed we can, even if we all get arrested. Who cares? At least we know its a good cause, and we may even get a few people to see it our way.

If I had a car, was old enough to drive, and wasn't like 10,000 miles away I would go...

I'm going to venture a guess that in some ways it's because people are too self absorbed. That 'the movement' in some people's eyes only goes so far as how cheap they can get a bag. Perhaps not, maybe that guess is completely off. Either way, I'm with you. Even though alot of folk would like to relegate the mj movement to just a bunch of silly potheads, it's far greater than that. It runs deep.

yeh i dont think most stoners have enough cash to fork out trips around the place to protest. it would be better if all that money was just spent on publicising and advertisement proweed

If I was old enough to drive, (or) Had money for a ticket, or gave a shit, I would. There has been tons of Pot Protests in the capital, where has it gotton us? Weed is still illegal. No one would listen to us, and its definatly not worth getting arrested over. Ive said this in many of my posts... we are better off smoking weed then enforcing our rights with it... TOKE UP! =)

While the thought is nice...if we are caught smoking weed, chances are we will probably not be able to smoke it as we like. By trying to do something about it, we try to enforce our ability to keep on smoking.

I see what you are saying. But dont get caught =) People are still smoking weed as they were years ago, and the law hasnt changed. Now, I think doing small things would be more use then big things, such as... Writing letters (lots) to senators, congressmen, etc. Whilst, a rally would just make us look like a bunch of drugged-out hippes, yet again, trying to legalize pot, when thats not really whats goin on. Writing letters, in an informed manner, would make people realize, we arent hippies seeking "the right to life" anymore, but saying scientificly that the laws are just bullshit. Thanx...

Yeah, these are some pretty good points. I realized that it probably wouldn't be the best thing to do after I put up this thread. Still it would be nice if we could get some media attention. Just a picture of someone getting beat up over a damn plant. Let the people see that we are being oppressed for no damn reason.

i'm not entirely sure it should be legal for ONLY medical reasons........what about all the youth that would stay away from heroine dealers and the like if when they were 18 they could get pot at the coffee shop....amsterdam, Where smoking outside on the side walk caffee drinking espresso and smoking hashhsh or...is perfectly exceptable....reduced crime and reduced drug related crime....hmmm(I think)

no! protests are sill the best way to go about it. letters to congress just get thrown out and don't do nothing cuz none of those people want to legalize it so letters don't change thier mind. the only way that any laws have ever been passed in this country is when the people put pressure on the government. the media is an essential part. you have to get attention for your cause and get the majority of the country on your side. stage a big protest in front of the white house, they can igrore a letter but they can't ignore thousands of people outside screaming and demanding to be heard and refusing to be silenced. you get media coverage and keep protesting use media coverage to reach more people and get more people to come. get funding form NORML and High Times and be like an annoying fly that won't go away until it gets attention and media coverage. freedom is never volentarily given by the oppressors it has to be demanded by the oppressed. the attitude of protesting won't work their not going to listen to us no use in doing anything is the reason that nothing gets done. so get we need to get together and have a big protest in washington. although as much as i have always love the idea of haveing a smoke out i think thats not the best idea...
