Hi everyone! Maybe my question is stupid, but I hope someone can give me an answer.

What do you usually do on a Gathering? I'm very curious because I never visited one. How many people visit a Gathering? How many days does a Gathering usually take? What and how do you eat/cook? Do you have to pay a kind of entrance fee? I hope someone can fill me in!

you want peacefully or do what others want , like
go get some firewood now . or tomorrow if you're

    Hi Kabbalist,

And food is also free at all the kitchens. You can get there as early as the location gets posted. Usually that's by the 12th or 13th of June. From the initial couple hundred, the crowd slowly grows till the 1st of July when it begins to mushroom. By the 4th of July there will be between 10 and 25 thousand. The Gathering officially ends on the 7th of each July. They like to get everyone out by the 12th of July so the volunteer clean-up crew can work with minimum distractions.

As far as what it's like being there; brother, all I can say is that it is life to the 'n'th degree. The Good, The Bad, The Ugly, The Beautiful, The Sacred, and The Profane. It's all there to the max. Picture thousands of Tamed and Caged Civilized People trying to recapture the spontaneous freedom and anarchy of the Indigeneous Peoples. WILD barely begins to describe it.

I wish I could show you a picture of TIKOO at the Gathering. Because one picture is worth .....
So you made it back to old Civilization huh Mikul.

The Rainbow Family is free... And Its a great many things to a great many people.

Some people go to pray for word peace. Some goto share food they grew with otheres there. Some goto there to play drums. For me its a chance to get out of Babylon and try to exist in a real peaceful place.

I want to walk downa forest path and run into a small drum circle with others singing to the children. I like walking up on a freind offering me a something to drink... Its nice to be in the forest amoung the trees and working to improve your living stuation there.

Its great to talk to many other people from all over telling thier stories.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SERF/cal <-- check the calander for an up and coming (Oct 8th) regional gathering in NW Alabama (bankhead national forest. also check out www.welcomehere.org <--- for info on the history of the family and what to bring.

hope this helps email me if you have any other questions djsubrosa@yahoo.com i am online all the time... (until i head out to AL)

Yes, though some folk do cuss a lot in the woods, and some folk do pray that they'll stop...
    Or whirled peas, eh? ;)
Just teasin ya. But hey you are free in the woods and everything in the woods is free, but that doesn't mean it doesn't cost anything. Alot of people spend a lot of money to kick down food & supplies to the freedom festival so I like to say the food is definitely not free, but it won't cost you a dime...
    Lovin ya
