i think the radio really sucks. its just a bunch of hits and whatever will make the coporations that own them the most money. when FM first started it was so cool, they did whatever they wanted to and played whatever they wanted to. now its just a bunch of crap. i dont know if its like this where all you people live, but thats how it is around here.
I agree! My favorite bands won's get played on the radio because it is lame. But bands like Switchfoot, Korn, AC/DC, and Metallica get to? How fucking retarded!
Most radio sucks but, in Pittsburgh Howard Stern owns a channel and it kicks major ass. It has all kinds of great music (mostly rock) from the last like 40-some years and I love it so much... Plus the DJs are total dickheads and funny as hell... Also for like 2 weeks there was a hardcore punk, metal, and other rock pirate radio station but that got closed down fast...
If I am driving anywhere, I resort to either CDs, tapes, or NPR... I know NPR is radio, and classical, but sometimes it has some rad acid jazz or alternative rock like CAKE, Radiohead, and Bright Eyes.
http://minnesota.publicradio.org/radio/services/thecurrent/playlist.php here's a good one....streaming audio, little bit of anything and everything. Boycott commercial radio, and donate if you can to the alternatives.
but are you going to be able to listen to it driving on the road across the country? hey... i checked out the link and it is NPR, just minnesota's form! so someone does have a side with me! it even has the same talk shows and everything...
That station is the best thing to come to pittsburgh in years. It sure beats the X playing all their shitty songs over and over
i don't live in pittsburg, we have 1 rock station, 2 country stations, 1 oldies station, NPR, and about 15 mexican stations.
yup, I love it, Howard Stern is the best. He should start a recording label and save the rock. I think I'm goin' to send him a letter suggesting it...
the current (MN MPR) plays music all the time, not much talk (we have 3+ MPR's here) and no, I thought of the cross country thing, then i just crank up CD's and try to hear a little local color on the radio if I have to listen to it. Like swap shows and even some bad local small town stations just for the humor of it. does anyone have sirius or XM or anything? I have thought about it but hate to pay like that.
it kinda does. I can't understand it much but there is mexican techno, rock, metal, pop, country, you name it, it's there. sometimes you can find some awesome beats. still, I would rather have real, good music stations over the bull I have here
i don't, but I listen to npr for not only the groovy music, but also some of the talk shows. i like to hear people's voices without knowing what they look like. then I can be completely unbiased
even if we are all poor, we can get jobs and possibly buy out an AM radio station. AM waves go a long way and we could put new, hardly discovered bands on there. like my band!
Okay well then my excuse is that I'm jobless and I'm only 15 and that's way too much responsibility for a 15 year old. But that is a good idea...
let's try to convince older people who are interested to read this forum and see if they will contribute. 60 people, $5 per person, =$300. plus we could have ads so they could fund our station while we get undiscovered bands discovered.
