R.I.P Khephri

My cat died today. He had been breathing hard for the past few days. I was going to take him to the vet Monday, but he didn’t make it. Khephri was one of the sweetest cats I have ever been around. He adopted us about a year and a half ago. He showed up as a stray, and was starving. I fed him, and for him it was love at first bite. I miss my cat! My parents went outside to check on him around 4:00pm today. My dad was the one that told me. It hurts so bad. I ran outside to see for myself, and when I touched him, he was stiff. I helped my dad bury him. I had felt a little better when I went to church, but on the way home I broke down again. He wasn’t there to greet me like he always did. I didn’t see his eyes shining in the dark. He didn’t run up to me and roll over on his back for me to rub his belly. I love my cat. Rest in peace Khephri, you were the greatest cat ever!

oh ang, I'm sooo sorry to hear that. pets are one of life's greatest gifts and losing them can be so hard. I'm sure you gave khephri tremendous love and affection that will carry on with him wherever he goes from here.

 

Khepri was an egyptian god. I liked the way Khephri sounded so I added the H.

i know how it is. my baby kitty of 17 yrs. got put to sleep almost 2 yrs. ago.

um, that's so horrible. i felt like crying when i read it.

aw, i'm so sorry! one of my cats got really sick and died while i was at work and my mom was caring for him. he would never settle down to sleep unless i was touching him. then he got sick, and i held him all night. my mother took him to the vet while i was at work, and they had to put him down. he had petroleum poisoning, of all things. such a sweet baby. it didn't really hit me until i got a condolence card from the vet. my last baby was shot! poor little frankie.

 

haha gary. its simply that pets give you unconditional love. i personally dont have nor want any pets. but for those who have them they are like children

 

That's the thing. I don't think I gave him enough attention. He was an outside cat, and I didn't stay out there with him nearly enough. I knew something was wrong, I should have held him today instead of coming in the house. He was found in the garage. He hated the garage, but that is where I would lock him up at night. I think he suffered, and that is eating a hole in me.

 

I'm sorry Tree-Hugger. Losing a pet is always rough. You won't forget, but you will feel better soon, and they say cats have nine lives, so if some stray kitten shows up at your door some day it could be your old buddy coming back to say hi.

 

i've got the same feeling about pita. he was the cat my mother got for me after my bandit was deliberately run over by a classmate. i still think bandit's the best cat i ever had. and this fucker ran over her then bragged and laughed about it the next day. the only consolation i can take is that i was so upset by it and chewed his ass so hard about it that none of the girls would get near him for a good long while. so sad to lose a cat, they're so lovey.

I have one who is an outside cat, and this thread made me think, I dont spend so much time with him anymore, and I better start spending more time with him, he is a loving cat, that is soooooo happy to see us come home, in fact george is sleeping in tonight, (just hope he doesnt have fleas )

So sorry to hear about your baby, Ang! I am a cat person, too. So it's always hard to hear when one passes on...
