go for long walks or runs! How proud you are of yourself outweighs the cigarettes

Find all sorts of new things to do, new environments to put yourself into. Change things enough that you don't think of it as often. Regular routines are the surest way to slip back into habits.

Umm...Don't drink alcohol..The two go hand in hand. If you want some, set a goal for two weeks. (worked for me)
You CAN quit. Get it set in your brain that just because people say it's so hard doesn't mean it has to be for you. Don't listen to negativity.
I visited an anti smoking website while I drank my morning coffee everyday for the first four days. The first seventy two hours is the worst of it.
Drink lots of fluids to help get the toxins out.
Keep something healthy/low calorie around to gnaw on. I used carrot and celery sticks.
Figure out which motivations are the strongest for you. Use them as mantras, for me the smell was the big one...Something that really bothered me about my own habit.
If you don't make it, try again another time. Don't get wrapped up in and totally emotionally invested...It becomes discouraging when you think about quitting the next time around.
That's as much as I can think of.
I smoked for twenty years..If I can do it, so can you. Best wishes to you..If not this time, then the next. :)

Oh, & one more thing..(in case reason works for you) Remember, public smoking, & smoking at work is getting to be more and more of a pain in the ass..It takes just thirty to forty minutes to send your body into withdrawals..Therefore the habit really just doesn't make much sense.

If I had to quit smoking I would get rid of all my cigarettes and then limit my money so that I couldn't buy any if I wanted too.

My advise is to find something to do such as playing a computer game every time you think about wanting one. If you can go three days without a cigarette, then you are no longer addicted to them.

srry 3 days without doesnt end the addiction..1st 3 days ass is 1st 3 days of a fast..theyre the hardest
but takes 20 days to break the addiction
those homeopathics i mentioned make it fairly ez..as long as u dont have an ugly breakup on day 19..lol
but they take away all the withdraw symptoms and cravings within a sec or 2..however long it takes to disolve under your tongue....u can take as many as u need safely..but by maybe 6 days or so you'll be near the recomended 3 a day
but you wont really be 100% free for 20 days

My fiance and I are planning on quitting together in february. As good a time as any, I guess. If we are successful, I will have only been smoking for less than a year before I quit. Oh well, at least I'm not smoking 25 Black & Milds every day anymore. Good luck to all of us trying to quit.

sorry to rain on your parade but a friend of mine gave up smoking pretty quickly but freely admitted that 20 years later, he would gladly take it up again

a drug this powerful is still legal?

Yeah..Hell try anything that might work for you!
I just wanted to give up my secrets to quitting in case it could help somebody else. :)

All I said was the first seventy two hours is the hardest...

I quit six times total...Second to last time I made it for over nine months. (no babies involved) Time before this was over last Xmas holiday.

It was easier for me to quit drugs, but tapering off drugs works better than tapering off of smokes. I did research this time. Kept a pack of smokes right here in front of me for the first week.

*laughs* For real. Hate to take away rights though. :)

I've been munching on food all day like I'm stoned or something (I'm not! ;)) Is this cause by quitting smoking? Do I have the munchies to look forward to?

    Peace and love

Well..It is kinda natural to trade off addictions. Find something to stay busy with, & get yourself some fruit or veggies or something that you like.
How long have you gone without smoking?

I'm getting slowly, & pleasantly plastered today..So, if you want, I should be around for awhile. Tommorow too. Sundays are boring around here.
Pop in, & tell us what's up if you feel like it.

    Good luck! :)

Today is day two without cigarettes. I can't wait for my bf to get done with work so we can order Jimmy John's (a turkey tom with sprouts! Yum!)! I just want to eat and eat, but maybe that's a good thing considering I weigh only a buck ten.

    Peace and love

There ya go! Just eat healthy, & you'll level off soon. Keep stuff around to gnaw on 'til you get used to it. You'll do fine.

If not, there'll be another day. :H

I quit first, then, my guy got inspired..His reason was money. Now he's past week one, & I'm past week three. :punk:
