Name some athletes, musicians, directors, actors, etc. that either: has followed this creed well, or really should. For instance: Johnny Cash really should've instead of making all those American albums Bob Dylan should definitely quit making new tunes.

I thought almost no famous people follow this creed. It makes sense when you have become an embarrassment to your medium, yet can still rake in millions of dollars based on name-recognition and past success alone.
The old-fashioned ones do. You know how Disney re-releases their movies every once in a while and then they go back in the vault? It's sorta like that. They purposely stay out of the public eye once their career has cooled down, so every time they do come out, they get to have a (relatively) big impact. Bobby Vinton comes to mind.
