I have alot of this stuff, its supposedly very beneficial, but i have heard that eating it raw doesn't do anything for you because your body can't digest it. This seems like bogus to me, i'm wondering anybody elses opinion about this who has experience with quinoa?

You can sprout it and add it to salads, but it's definitely not for everyone. My body really disliked having to digest it. I boil it up now and use in place of or with rice

Thanks i just really wanted to know if you can eat it by itself. I think i read somewhere that your body can't digest it raw so its a waste to just eat it plain and raw. But thats what i want to do i try to eat everything raw except meat.

once a grain is dried its really pointless to eat it raw.
if ya want some raw, i think youll have to grow your own.

Jesus man, did you seriously think you were going to be able to put a handful of raw grains in your mouth and munch them up like a delicious moist meal? hahaha
Seriously, go try it and tell me how long you would like to continue eating raw dry grains... haha

    Quinoa is not a grain.
And the dryed seeds are easily germinated for eating in less than 5 hours.

Not to mention a good chaser. They are quite bitter.

Though, only eating food because it is palatable you can really be missing out on some easy nutrition.

I do not believe that your food should make your mouth feel like a piece of shit.

well it is a seed with a outer shell that is hard to digest, kinda like how we can't break down flax seed unless we crush them with our teeth or something else. You are actually supposed to soak it for an hour or so to soften it and get the bitter tasting coating off before cooking. I do believe quinoa is a 'whole' protein so it can be eaten alone. I think it is a fabulous seed fabulous for vegetarians and non. I have some really good recipes even a cranberry cinnamon one...might sound wierd but super good!

Supposedly if one is to eat grains at all, quinoa is the way to go. Although Im not a big fan of grains (or seeds that have the nutritional properties of grains), a little of it would be a good addition to my diet. Its packed with nutrients for one.
