I've been reading alot on this site.. and ive been expiriancing early stages of psychotic episodes i think after i smoked pot.. The one and only time i've smoked pot.. and I not planning on doing it again.. Do you really think that that smoking pot one time can maybe trigger it ?

Ha, tell me about psychosis (I'm referring to my stepmom) about her 20 year dance addiction of Cocaine and alcohol. And I haven't been doing drugs for 20 years, just almost 7 years for me. I'd say do not understimate this....

Marijuana has the potential of waking up underlying mental disorders like psychosis. To say the truth though, smoking only 1 time seems very far from the amount needed to have such an effect.

It also depends a lot on what you mean by a psychotic episode...

 

Marijuana does not cause psychosis, but might just rush an episode if you are predisposed to it. Same with schizophrenia, might precipitate the illness earlier. Often the person would have developped it anyways later on , but sometimes not. So I guess prevention is the way to go.

Of course it is nothing compared to hallucinogens or stimulants use. But people with mental illness running in the family should just abstain from any drugs.

Exactly! "somtimes not". Sometimes these ppl would have lead perfectly healthy lives.... but because they (ab)used marijuana they ended up with a mental disorder. prevention is the way to go indeed.

the fact that nutcase is obsessing so much clearly means he is possibly susceptable to anxiety and hyperchondria as some have discussed.

thus, even if nutcase doesnt have psychosis, there is a high chance that his anxiety in some way was bolstered by marijuana to a point that he had not experienced before, therefor feeling very distressed about it. how about, instead of calling him an idiot, we try and see wht he is talking about?

personally i think getting stoned once CAN cause a psychotic episode. it is just highly unlikely and pretty much only likely in someone who is already over the edge as far as being susceptable.

but just because a person may get schizophrenia REGARDLESS of whether they smoke, it doesnt mean that the particular episode that starts it off cant be caused by weed. weed can defiantely cause extreme psychological states. maybe a person would have enjoyed an extra year or maybe even 6 months of sobriety had they not boosted their symptoms with a drug.

so get over this bullshit, you dumb cunts.
