I was wondering how do you communicate with a totem do you just think it an you know what they would say, or do you pysically hear them? I dont really understand how it works. Also do you physically see them or just visit them in visions and dreams?
Hi Loin A Totem is a symbol. Keeping in mind what you limit...limits you. How we perceive is how we will interpret the information recorded in a totem. Some hear, some see, some imagine, some know, and the list goes on. For example the cross { + } started in the beginning of time, and in the pagans, and Celtics, time as a symbol of the four directions, and of balance. Religion made it a symbol of crucifixion. So symbols also can change in meaning by the group involved. My totems, in some respects are as real as the breath I breathe. They are 3D tatoo messages as well from nature, and our earth mother, so we will not forget who we are. We are spirit having a human experience, and here to grow. These symbols, and totems are like a blue print within us, showing us as much about ourselves as we are willing to know. So yes, they are real, they are imagined, they are sacred, and they are here in us, and around us, as tools for our own shape shifting into a greater awareness, A greater sacredness in spirit. The Tarot is a good example of totems in action telling us a story, as well as guiding us into all existance, for we are the I Am in the higher self of all we create within our power to imagine, and manifest within, and around us.
Hi Lion Totems are about more than perception, for our perceptions can be so very wrong. If we live in the emotions , fear, or out of balance, plus a million other ways we can lie to ourself. What we need to do is find this place of our center, and walk inside the sacredness of all things. Then you are not limited by one view. You are empowered by a greater truth born inside spirit, and wholeness. I remember the story of the missionary who went to Africa to teach the natives how to relate to a God out side of them. He flew in a metal bird named airplane. What this missionary learned was there were many ways to fly and a god within is far more powerful than one who controls from without. This is about our commitment to the saredness as a way of life. What we are accountable for, and responsable for, is who we are within our becoming. In this a totem is as real as the full moon, the sun rise, the bear, wolf, and snake, and a trillion other ways of manifesting the reality from within. Who is to say what dream, or path is real until they have lived from that heart space within them. You are missing the proverbial point so to speak, when you rely only on perception, and what may appear to be real, verses what is possable, and real beyond any reality we may live in, or try to understand. In this place truth in spirit is far stranger than any fiction we might be entertained by.
