how do you all stay so skinny like that? i have seen some skinny people eat more than me and here i am 30 pounds overweight (doctor said so, and i look it) can anybody offer tips on what to do right now i exercise an hour a day and i try to diet, but its hard because i am always hungry. i am also a vegetarian, but i stay away from junk food and try to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables i just started this diet about a month ago but its moving kind of slow, plus i would like to know how to STAY skinny once i get skinny..... thanks in advance for advice!
I don't do anything to "keep my weight". I eat whatever I want. I have a very fast metabolism, I suppose.
Well being skinny doesn't mean you are healthy. Atleast gaining fat and being fat is a good indicator. When I was younger I ate junk food all the time and remained thin, but I bet my organs were fucked. It's good and bad. I basically cannot afford my dietry requirements, and if I don't eat my body starts eating my muscle
Stay off the carbs for the time being. Put butter on everything else that will take it. Once you are skinny then carbs are just a vehicle for eating more butter. http://www.westonaprice.org/knowyourfats/lowfatcapitalism.html http://www.westonaprice.org/knowyourfats/banting.html
Perhaps a balanced diet with lots of whole grains, vegetables, and fruits might help. A balanced diet is a lot healthier than any fad diets. Peace & Love
Good point. But, you're body still needs some carbs for energy, so try to replace any carbs you're getting with GOOD carbs....i.e. whole grains, rices, etc. Stay away from white bread, pastas [especially white pasta]...pretty much any white carb, isn't healthy OR good for dieting. I don't agree with the banning of carbs-type diets, because then you're just going to be malnourishing your body of a vital source of energy. But, cutting out BAD carbs, I think, is key. Some things I noticed about losing weight are as follows: Don't drink soda. It's complete empty calories. If you must have a soda, try to drink diet soda....though, staying away from it completely is best. When you choose your fruits and veggies, try to go for the negative calorie selections.... grapes, green beans...etc. I can pull up a list of them for you, if you want...PM me. If you need to snack on something sweet like chocolate...I go for vegan dark chocolate, and try to pace yourself... Instead of just eating a whole candy bar in one sitting... savor it for a few days. Eat a piece here and there and save the rest for another time. Since you're vegetarian...try to stay away from a lot of cheese. Cheese here and there isn't bad, but I noticed that before I went vegan, I ate so much cheese that I actually gained weight. Try looking into some vegan recipes that use spices and sauces instead of fatty cheeses. Going along with the above, try cooking your OWN meals as often as possible... try to stay away from restaurants. Even if it SEEMS low-fat you NEVER KNOW. Eat more protein.... explore different fake meats, legumes, tofu, nuts, seeds, etc. Despite what people say, I've NEVER gained weight over eating nuts. The trick is...look for nuts that are not salted and roasted. Sunflower seeds, unroasted and unsalted are best, in my opinion. drink LOTS of water. If you keep feeling hungry, as you said before... when you start to feel any sort of hunger, go for a tall glass of water...drink up, and see if that helps curb the appetite. Water is GOOD for losing weight. It helps flush you out, as well as it keeps you full when you do not NEED to be eating. Sometimes, if you're just accustomed to eating so often, you will "feel" hungry more often than you should... but it doesn't mean you need to eat. Your stomach literally can stretch and shrink. Once you become more adapted to eating smaller portions, you won't feel hungry so often. Just be careful that you balance it out...don't get carried away and starve yourself. Just don't constantly be snacking. Maybe, you're snacking because you're bored or upset...etc. There's a lot of reasons people have increased appetites when they shouldn't... if you find yourself always running back and forth to the kitchen, take a step back and look at why you're doing it. It could be just simply out of sheer boredom...if that's the case, go out shopping, or go for a walk... take up a hobby like knitting, or painting...etc. Also what kind of exercise are you doing? A mixture of things such as running, aerobics, etc [high energy exercise] AND stretching/strength exercises are best. If you just fall to one particular exercise, it usually won't work your whole body. It will burn of calories, but it won't get rid of the fat. Maybe try running for a half hour, and then do some yoga, or pilates...etc. Another tip, try drinking green tea. It really does help boost your metabolism and it's SAFE, unlike all those bogus, dangerous diet pills. Anyway, I'm going on and on. I've always had problems keeping weight off, and so has my mom...I think part of it is genetic. But, I watch myself, and I'm doing fine. I eat what I want to an extent. I'm vegan, and that seemed to have helped a lot. Sometimes I'll go through periods where I'll eat a lot of junk, and I'll start to gain a little, but then I just put myself in check, and eat healthier again. And that's key... it's okay to treat yourself here and there, just don't let it become your lifestyle. PM me if you'd like. I'm really interested in health/nutrition, and I've had a lot of help with it in the past few years, for various reasons I'd rather not discuss here. My biggest advice is just don't fall for those fad diets.... South Beach, Atkins, The Zone...whatever... they often do NOT work, or they just aren't HEALTHY for you. Some of them have the right idea, but they take the idea to the extreme. Listen to your body. If you crave pasta... go eat a rice cake. When you crave something its your body telling you that you need a certain thing... So like, if you crave something sugary, go eat something sweet...but choose WISELY instead of going for a 3-layer cake Ok, I'm done now. Heh.
I honestly don't know how i do it. I used to be chubby when I was younger, I never ate brekfast. And when you don't eat brekfast the next thing you wat supposedly turns to fat. I don't know if thats true but now I eat breakfast and Im thinner than before. Just keep excersing and eating healthy!!!!! Good luck with your diet! Im not much help sorry but keep up the good work!
Hey I knew this young girl who went from 82kg down to 55kg by using a pair of roller-blades and did not have to go on any diet. She also thoroughly enjoyed herself in the process.
Rollerblading/skating is SO good for that. I used to do a LOT of rollerskating and I, too, lost quite a bit of weight.
thanks everybody for the comments, it's most helpful. i am definitley gonna go with the whole eating healthy and doing aerobic exercise thing. i guess i am just sortof impatient so i just need to give it time before i see results. it's just hard because i was raised on junk food and sweets, and not being able to eat that now is probably what makes me crave it even more! but i'm going to have to stick it out even though it isn't easy
It just takes a little getting used to is all, really. Once you haven't had something in a while, you don't crave it as often. And your taste buds also adapt to new things, if you keep eating them.... I used to hate a lot of the food I eat now, but i just kept eating it because I knew it was better for me. I rarrrrely crave chocolate now, unless its like...my time of the month lol. And I like veggies and fruits that I used to not, really care for. Its all about adapting
I've went from 130lbs to 110lbs since September 2005. What did I do, you ask? I limit my alcohol consumption. I became vegan (or pretty damn close, I do cheat some times). I steam/boil veggies instead of frying them. I make most of my food myself. I walk places when I can. I usually only drink green tea and water, but I don't make this a strict rule. I eat small meals that are high in protein. I take tupperware to restaurants and put 1/2 the meal away before I begin to eat. When I crave sugar, I buy gum. I work out at least 2 times a week. I avoid those weird ingredients in processed food, because I figure, if I don't know what the fuck it is, I probably shouldn't eat it (gum is my one exception to the rule, I'm a lifelong gum whore...) And I don't tell people I'm on a diet, I tell them I've been eating better food. The phrase "I'm on a diet" is evil. I've found that now I crave healthy foods instead of shitty processed foods, which is awesome.
Honey, I'm afraid its called metabolism. Everyone's body released thyroxin at a different level (thyroxin speeds up your body's ability to break down glucose into useable energy. The slower the glucose breaks down, the more of it is stored as fat.). Perhaps you should get tested for a thyroid condition? My mum has underactive thyroid and has little energy and gains weight suuper easy, and her sister has overactive thyroid and eats and eats and eats and never gains an ounce. I'm sorry to say, but if you're already eating healthy and exercising, theres not a lot you can do! Though I must applaud you having a healthy lifestyle- thats whats *really* important! PS: I just got out of biology class and this is what we're learning about, sorry for getting all "thyroxin" on you
Unfermented soy attacks the thyroid gland. http://www.nexusmagazine.com/articles/Soy%20Allergens.html Hey Sunburst we don't seem to get to chat much these days.
i was thin as a rail 6 foot 4,, an never went over 150 till i hit 25,, now im 190.. i think for a lotta folks its metabolism
they say that snacking during the day instead of having big meals at the designated times is better. i know ive always eaten like that (snacking).
thinking about i bdont do anything to stay skinnier, i just do. benn losing a lot of weight recently.
With the way I eat I should be a fat motherfucker. I eat terribly. This week has been brutal. Pizza 3 times (2 mediums each time) 8lbs of chicken wings tacos twice lots of fries and gravy pizza pockets/ pizza pops 2.5 cases of beer Chicken Fajitas 3 times I'm eating chicken pizza with hot sauce as I write this lol, and drinking a bottle of coke. Fast metabolism kicks major ass. I'm eating all the shitty food I can now, because in the summer my running diet goes into effect and its VERY strict.
