when someone is talking about their flat, how do you know if they're talking about the place where they live or their girlfriend who doesn't have much mammary gland development? i would think it could get awfully confusing at times...

Hahahaha, a funny observation. When Americans talk about pants, I still think they're talking about the undergarments. And as for fannies....

I always wondered why Americans called trousers pants, but I think they have the right theory there. If underwear is known as "underpants", then what must the underpants be under? Pants.

I suppose it comes from pantaloons. They're probably right, but it still seems strange to me....

we call trousers pants oop north too :) ive always called trousers pants...got confusing when i moved southerly to birmingham, as did 'pulling' someone...which in brum meant kissing and up here means a little bit more. so what does everyone call its where they come from? scousers call snogging 'getting into' someone (which sounds more than it is), in north wales we call it 'going with' someone, in brum we just called it 'pulling'....hm regional variations....oddness

Yeah, we call it 'going with' in South Wales, too. We also call it 'meeting somone'.

    Don't some people in the U.S call a wallet a bill-folder?

Trousers is one of the only words that is only a plural...Also shears.

Around These Parts its Called 'Getting into' o_O

    I Think I may Have been Americanized Though...As I Say Pants...Not Trousers...

Is UK being Americanized? I am Now Replacing 's' in Certain Words with a 'z'...

    Using 'Gotten' Alot...Damn...

'Thank ya kindly' Instead of 'Thank you' or Whatever...

My English Friends Find this Amusing..

Some dumb-minded peopl fromthe UK may be getting Americanised. However, I am insulted when people use Americanisations in front of me. We are British, after-all.
It's like when you teach TEFL, in some places they expect you to put on an American accent... I mean like, FUCK OFF! I will speak English how the ENGLISH speak it.

Ermmmm no, it's a valid opinion, that you just happened to spark with your previous comments. It's not aimed at anybody. But if you will go and send stupid private messages trying to threaten someone over the internet, you kinda have it coming.

Interestingly the s / z thing is not really an American / English matter but more properly a Greek / French one. -ize is technically the correct English suffix coming from the Greek root, but common usage has meant that the French spelling -ise has been accepted despite being etymologically unsound... -ize is not an Americanisation, but I still prefer the -ise spelling:D

I have a special ignore button button for people who spellz all their wordz like thiz..

I like the American use of the word "hood", especailly when they say "hoodwinked"!

That's such a cute sounding word that I don't want to spoil it by knowing what it means!
