I have a question about my dreads. They're about 5" long and I was wondering how long they would stay 5". I desperately want long dreads. lol Should I take out my dreads and wait until my hair grows to the length that I want to dread it at or should I wait it out. The shrinkage factor is bothering me hence that I do not like my short curly dreads. Oh, my dreads are only 2 weeks old and I've had dreads once before. much appreciated my buddies
Quit being impatient, leave it in and let it grow out mate. They'll turn out better if you dread it now and let it grow rather than let it get long and then dreading it.
i didn't see any gain in length until about 14-16 mos. ,but that's my hair, not yours. you should learn patience.
My hair grew the first year and then shrunk the second...now Im at square 1...back to shoulder length hair. However i think some of them are growing now going into year 3.
My hair was just above shoulder length and layered when I did my dreads. They are to years old now and they have only grown 1-2 inches. One of these days I'm going to make an equation to work out the rate of shrinkage and consequent growth.
That equation would have a ridiculous amount of variables. Kind of like the "how long will it take for my dreads to mature?" equation... I'm glad we got that one figured out
