Hey y'all... I made an account here to ask about a poster I just bought on Etsy. It is listed as a "Hippie original" from 1968, and, as you can see from the picture, it is promoting a club called "Loudella Choudnik's" and says it's subterranean--! The location is listed as being "near the Great Dismal Swamp, VA." Apparently the artist was someone named "james adams" from louisville, KY. I Googled the club and found nothing.... googled the artist and got false leads. Emailed the seller who said, "check out the louisville hippies!" that Google led me here. So. Anyone know anything about this club or this artist? Was this even a real place? Any info would be super cool. Thanks! katie
"open 2am til dawn" sounds kind of fishy...maybe its just an artwork piece and not an actual advertisement for an actual venue
I tried blowing it up, but the resolution isn't good enough. OP, what does it say along the bottom right edge. there is a place called The Dismal Swamp, but it is a national park and wildlife refuge, but not until the early '70's, so it is possible, but seven stories deep in swampland?????? not so sure about that, still cool artwork though.
It's been called that for at least a few hundred years, maybe longer. It was turned into a national park and wildlife reserve in the 1970's, so there may have been a club hidden there in 1968, but not past about '72. I see how I wasn't clear before.
