She has bad arthritis, can barely walk, pisses on herself. She is smart aware and 15 years old. Wife said it's time to put her down I don't want to but I'm not going to endure ww3 with the mrs. I wish she would die in her sleep (my dog I mean) scheduled for saturday. friken sucks. I'm like crying and all emotional about it and I'm not even on acid. Fuck. :(

Why not do it yourself. I've had to put about 3 dogs down, but at least you can look into their eyes one last time before you do what has to be done.

However you decided to end it, just make sure you have a special place to bury/put her their after. It will make it so much easier if you find a nice tree of some kind that never gets blocked from sunlight. It will help very much with her passing.

I'm living with 3 dogs and two of them are 13. I hear ya....

As George Carlin says, “It's inevitable when you buy the pet. ... You're purchasing a small tragedy.”..

It's really difficult to do. I've had to do it 5 times. The first 3 I chose to not be present for. The last two, one my dog and one my cat, I was present for. The vet and her staff were very good about calmly explaining everything that would happen and asking me if I was ready. When I gave the go-ahead they administered the shot. The dog vocalized like they warned me she might. The cat just stuck it's tongue out and shut its eyes.

I'm sorry you're having to do this. It hurts; but it is the most humane thing to do when your pet reaches a certain point of suffering.

This is one of the hardest things I have ever done. I had to have my 13 year old Sunny put down in January 2011. Sunny never complained but I knew he was in a lot of pain just moving around, similar to your dog. He basically did not want to get up one morning. I knew it was time. Know that you gave your dog a good life.

I am so sorry. Thinking of you.

Sorry to hear that man. It's always a. Hard thing to go through. We've had all our dogs buried at our last property, hope the new owners don't go digging around. Anyways, you can always replace her if you have the money, clone her ;p

Having just lost Thor in February I know how hard it is to lose a good dog, sorry you are having to go through this. Many places will let you be with your dog while they give her the shot if you want to be there. I've seen it done in the past, they don't suffer, there's no pain for them... Just for those of us that remain behind after they pass.

    Best wishes, Man...

I am very sorry to hear about your dog, one of the hardest parts of having a pet. At least you had 15 great years to share together with tons of happy memories, your dog will always live in those memories.

So sorry for what you're going through. As another who has had to make that tough decision many times, please know that you're making the right choice. I know too many people who are selfish and refuse to euthanize their pets when it's time because they don't want to lose them. I call these people selfish because they're thinking of their own pain, not the pain of their pet. Someone I know right now has a dog who is constantly chewing at the joint that is injured. She's too old to have surgery and the vet said it's her time, but her owner refuses to do it because she knows she'll be upset. She's putting the pain of her inevitable loss over the constant pain of her dog. THAT is selfish. YOU are doing the right thing.

I wish you strength and peace for both you and your companion.

Animals really do become a part of the family.

I think about my cat...he drives me insane and he's such a whore, but I couldn't imagine that little bundle of fart a regular part of our lives.

I'm thinking of you and if your dog is that sick, I'm sure its for the best.

Aww, that almost made me cry. I've lost 2 dogs and a cat so far. They are both buried in the back yard of my parents house and the cat was my old ladies, we had to have him put down because he was old and senile and was shitting all over himself.
