We are having a blisterimg summer,so i went to the beach which is a clothing beach, but a quiet part of the beach, taking only a towel, and nothing else, which meant,i had to swim in the nude:,and there were penple there already. One bloke just remarked that it seemed nice to be able to swim naked.More penple later came to the beach, and neuer made any remarks. The question is,is it a good thing to push the nudist boundry?

I'd rather not bother the textiles, lest they bother us...

I'm not so sure. If the wrong person witnesses you stripping down to naught in a public area, they could drop a dime on you and before long you'll be answering some very uncomfortable questions for law enforcement. Mind you, many people are either open-minded or indifferent, but it only takes one to ruin the experience.

I'm not sure either as if they involve the police, could be unpleasant.

It's all very well pushing boundaries but you do have to use discretion. Pick places that are quiet and especially where you know naturists have been before. In the UK a general guide (outside the few official beaches) is simply that if the beach is quiet and has no promenade the nude sunbathing is probably OK but walking around in the buff you need to be much more careful. Even if you do get caught the worst that generally happens is that you are politely asked to dress.

For boundary pushing to achieve anything you do need strength of numbers then you may establish a precedent on a particular beach though if anyone objects you probably be back to square one.

The legendary Danish mass strip, which resulted in near total freedom in that country, has yet to be repeated successfully elsewhere.

OK: some perspective here. Kaalvoet is living in South Africa (Cape Town) with a unofficial nude beach propably a few km's away from this location (guessing that it was propably Clifton which is topless friendly) As with most "European" predominant venues here in South Africa, nudism would propably raise a few eyebrows, but most South African's would not do anything about it (lets just say that historically as a nation we are suckers for punishment/abuse)
If however Kaalvoet tries this in a location eg. Muizenberg or Blouberg , my guess would be dire consequences from either the police or a crowd of hooligans leering and shouting abuse.
Cheers to the attempt, but I think your right beach selection resulted in your successfully pulling off this one!
South Africa has a very conservative/calvanistic approach to nudity in general, and maybe things change after the first WNBR is held in South Africa on the 12th of March here in Cape Town (hope it happens)...

To me it's not so much about pushing boundaries (nudist vs textile) but more of pushing your luck. In a world where naturism does not have universal acceptance (even in South Africa), the very last thing that a nudist should do is strip off on a known textile beach and assume it will be accepted. Come on! Boundaries are clear on textile beaches, and luck isn't needed on a legal nude beach, but you'll need a lot of cheek to do it on a beach populated by textiles, and the backlash could potentially affect naturism in other areas.

My feelings exactly. I'm all about going naked, but if it's not expressly allowed then as was said, someone can turn you in, and then something harmless becomes something on your record and that record is public. But obviously that depends on the culture a little. Perhaps in a certain area nudism is a reason for law enforcement to get you to stop, but not really anything that is considered legally an issue per se.

People are only weirded out by things they don't know, if people did it more frequently people would eventually stop caring

so do it, if you get caught do it again until they stop caring

you probably wouldn't serve any real time unless there were kids around. I really hate that double standard, sheltering kids is silly in my book

    yes, oh so dreadful.

Its' funny - I have been known (okay, ideally only I know) to run naked late late at night along a biking and running trail where I live. Obviously I've never truly been caught, but it's ridiculous that I could be in more trouble along some point of it, because as the bird flies, I'm within a certain range of some school that I can't even see, I don't know about, and I couldn't easily navigate to from the trail even if I wanted to.

Okay, I'm an occasional nudist (at home and privately in other places) and I haven't checked the laws but it can't be any more than a misdemeanor. Issued a ticket and go free. You folks make it sound like you're going to go away for a very long time with felony charges.

I don't know about felony, but in a lot of cases you will be put on the family watch dog site with all the sex offenders and maybe even have to have a sign in your yard that says you did something wrong and to avoid you

also having to go door to door notifying everyone in the neighborhood that you are going to move in and asking them to sign your petition to allow you into their neighborhood even though you are a sex offender

If it were me though I just wouldn't give a fuck about that, and put up another sign reading "I GOT THIS SIGN FOR BEING MYSELF, NUDE"

    Extract from a local newspaper:
Ten nude bathers arrested in Cape

    2011-01-02 22:23
Cape Town - Ten men have been arrested for bathing nude at the beach, the City of Cape Town said on Sunday.
Spokesperson Wilfred Solomons-Johannes said the ten were arrested on New Year's Day at the Strand and Bloubergstrand.
"They were fined R500 each for public indecency," he said.
He explained that they contravened the city's bylaws and the Sexual Offences Act.
