I need help publishing my book, and I dont know how to get started. I know I could always look it up but I dont wanna read through all that rubish. I need somthing fast, cheap, and efficient! Can you please help meh?
Send it to a literary magazine to get published there. Then, move on from there. That's the first step, being discovered. Same thing here, I'm writing a novel and I am sending it to Sam Houston State University's literary journal. I'm typing mine as we speak actually. Good luck with this, my sister.
Publishing by a company is NOT easy. You have to go to their website, take a look at their requirements (most companies only publish a few specific genres), submit a piece of your work (most companies only want to see a part of your work at first, since if the story sucks they don't want you to waste the paper of sending it in), and they'll probably want it in a specific font, format, etc. It is also preferrable if you have a portfolio (i.e. you've been published before). Doing it as a 12 year-old would definately be a challenge. Another alternative would be self-publishing. Advantages are that you keep 100% of the profit (most pub. com. only let you keep about 10%) but the disadvantage is that you pay for 100% of the publishing costs. And, keep in mind, you'd also have to convince local bookstores to sell it, and if it didn't sell well, there goes your money. I have written alot, I consider it a natural talent of mine, and have had some poetry published before (although not by a major company). If you have any questions, or want me to look over your stuff (as sort of "pre-editing") feel free to contact me. -Kate
Kate, would you be willing to edit my novel (through chapter seven) for me, please? I'd be in debt to you for sure, but I would appreciate it very much.
Ok, but I would requre a small fee (I am a capitalist, after all :sunglasse). Just e-mail it to me (I was joking about the fee). katherinekarshner@yahoo.com I can't gaurantee when I'll have it back to you--I'm in the middle of finals, but I go home for 5 weeks of boredom on the 15th. Just give me a breif synopsis of what the entire story is going to be about (just so I know where it's going--don't worry about spoiling the ending, I'd like to know) and I'll try and keep my criticism constructive
Alright, well, my story is about a girl named Tina Lyne. A very conservative girl in 1968 who with her boyfriend goes on an adventure of a lifetime. On this adventure she meets many interesting characters who change her opinion of the world and who open her eyes to the many taboo things in the society at the time. It is more or less a story of her finding herself. Now, for the ending, I still don't have a final set one. I'm letting it develop. Thank you very much for editing this for me though.
Yeah... tis. I actually wrote about somewhat of a same topic... about a guy who lived in a van. He just traveled around running into random things. I really want to write about the caribbean.
It would be very hard to publish anything before you're at least 16... Sorry, but it's true. I mean book wise, but you could always try magizines and stuff That's what I do with my myths and poetry GOOD LUCK
