Public Service Announcement From The 70's.

Anybody remember that public service announcement from the 70's? A little boy in a rowboat with his grandfather. And he says, Grandpa. Yesterday, Timmy said I was prejudiced. What does prejudiced mean? And the grandfather said, well, prejudiced means when you view or treat people differently because of race, ethnicity or religion. Do you think you're prejudiced? Of course not, the boy answers. Well, the grandfather says. Who is Timmy? The boy says, Timmy is one of my Jewish friends. And there is a pause, and all us 70's kids are going "Aw..." how nice. He's knows a Jewish boy. And he's proud to call him his friend.

And then the grandfather says, You vile fiend! How dare you say that! He's a friend! What difference does it make what religion he is! For shame!!

And we gasped and were pretty confused at that time. I was in grade school at the time. And the grade school kids kept talking about it. Some of them laughing a little even.

Why shouldn't he have thought of Timmy as his Jewish friend? Maybe he did go out his way to befriend him because he was Jewish. Or, maybe, as some people at that time pointed out, Timmy asked for that. He wanted to be referred to that way. He was a Jewish person first. Then everything else. An American, a human being, a friend, etc.

Anyone remember that public service announcement? And how kids reacted to it?

Whomever wrote this, needs to look in the mirror. Not a reason to be proud more than anyone else, sorry. I know that was the point of the PSA.

Anyone who identified with being a member of a religion, first and foremost is brainwashed.

If you look at life this way, you can find your true place in the universe:

A. You are a lifeform infecting a global ecosystem because your species refuses to control its own greed and fertility much of it promoted by religions.

Next, you are a human being who consumes far more resources than your life requires. You throw your shit everywhere even beyond that planet you infect, much of it promoted by faceless corporations. Your pitiful attempts to rein that in as well as wars and destruction will doom your race and thousands of other innocent species.

Then, you are whatever your DNA says you are, whether that is male, female, or something else. Race is also a DNA factor.

The cultural differences come next like ethnicity and religion.

Finally, we have social differences like sexual preferences, political, economic, age, group associations, etc.

If people viewed their place on Gaia in that order, the Earth would be a much better, healthier and happier place.

And no, I never saw that PSA.
