    One that's not on there...

Instead of marking something at 10% off, advertise the sale as "We pay the taxes" usually 7.25% - 8%...

People think they are screwing the government when in reality they are screwing themselves.

We expose the tricks shops use to make you spend more – and how to beat them

You might be familiar with the supermarket bread trick, where stores pump warm bakery smells into the store to make us feel hungry and fill our trolleys, but what you might not realise is that a whole host of mind games are being played on us every time we go shopping.

If, for example, you’ve found yourself singing along to the music that’s playing as you walk down the aisles, or gone back for a second free cheese sample, the chances are, you were drawn into it spending more than you planned.

Equally, while high-street stores have long used all sorts of tactics to try and persuade you to part with your cash, online retailers are now doing the same.

E-commerce websites will deploy all manner of psychological tricks and techniques to ensure that you don’t click away from the site without putting a few items in your basket.

What about a salesman telling you a hard luck story to make you feel sympathy and so buy something off them?
Or there is the "Did you know..." brainwashing line.
