Pschedelics and brain activity

    So yesterday in school we had an assembly about drugs. At the end of the assembly we were free to ask the speaker questions. One kid asked is it true that psychedelics open your mind. The answer was that all psychedelics show a significant increase in brain activity(normally you only use 6%-7% of your brain and psychedlics almost double that amount since it takes more brain activity to hallucinate), so as far as that yes they do open it. I thought this was interesting since I always felt psychedelics made me more intelligent, maybe this could be the reason behind the feeling.

    the statement that you normally only use 6-7% of your brain is completely FALSE - according to my neurobiology professor.
