i was wondering if anyone else was protesting this weekend. im goin down to nyc saturday for a "Troops out now" rally in Central Park. I know the global antiwar movement has called for massive demonstrations on this weekend. there was one today in North Carolina and i heard theres some going on in the UK. March 19 marks the second anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq and is a world-wide day of protest. Troops Out Now coallition - a broad formation of antiwar, community, solidarity, and labor organizations will lead a march from Marcus Garvey Park in Harlem to Central Park's East Meadow to demand the immediate, complete, and unconditonal withdrawal of the US troops from Iraq. Groups from all over the Eastern and Central US are organizing buses, vans, car caravans, and peace trains to travel to NYC for what promises to be a massive rally agaisnt war. Activists from as far away as Georgia and Ohio are coming. Rally speakers include: Rep. Cynthia McKinney and other members of congress, Martin Luther King III, former US Attorney General Ramsey Clark, Rev. Lucius Walker, members of the NYC Council, labor officials, immigrant rights organizers, artists, veterans, military families, and US soldiers who are resisting orders to Iraq.

wow our protest today had a really good turn out. a few of us stayed after school to make t-shirts and then we walked over to the army recruit office.the tee shirt i made says Power to the Peaceful and i painted a huge peace sign on the back that im gonna wear to nyc tomorrow. we held signs saying "honk for peace" "war is not the answer" "bush lies, kids die," "college not combat" and many more. some people were complete assholes and flipped us off but there were more who cheered us on. overall it was awesome. i cant wait for tomorrow
I'm headed downtown to the drum circle and vigil at the capital building. This is in Denver, CO. A few of my friend are heading there also. our turnout wasnt so good today... about 100 or so showed up from a large town/ small australian city. 2 years ago over 30000 marched against war in iraq and it gave everyone such a feeling of hope, since then people have taken the attitude that there is in fact no hope and we better just give up. so there were 100 brave still standing after 2 years... we'll probly get killed sooner or later
We had a pretty good turnout here, about 100(which isnt that bad considering its a small city in canada, i have a bunch of pics ill be posting soon.
It was wonderful. I missed the march from Harlem, coz I was asleep, we only got into the city at 2 am after a 11-hour drive. But the rally ws great and the marcha fterwords to Bloomberg's house was fun. Had a great time, met some nice folks. Cops were not as annoying as I thought they owuld be.
well our government doesnt particurlarly like people who protest... especially people who continually protest. they still havent let those guys who painted no war on the opera house outa jail yet... the being killed is sortof a metaphor of our gentle or not spirits being crushed
yeah it was a blast seen ground zero too. My best part was dancing for peace out in central park to the drums in front of bloomburgs. Peace and Love Twig
