Here's a little thought for ya...from Mark Smith (atheist friend and webmaster of JCNot4Me).

    Energy=MassxC
    (Speed of Light)SquaredEAlgebra:
In an Equation, whatever is to the left of the =

sign must stay equal to whatever's on the right.

Mx186,000 miles per second. This is a constant, that is, CAN'T CHANGE, no matter what.SquaredE of

    Biblegod:

    *Infinite

    Energy

    *(or so the Christians claim)

= Since Energy (on the left) goes to infinite, Mass (on the right, and the only thing on the right that can change) must change to infinite also, for the equation to stay an equation.

M IF Biblegod has infinite energy, THEN Mass changes to infinite as well, for the equation to stay equal, as this is the only thing that can change on the right hand side of the equation.

xC This is locked in at 186,000, no matter how much "E" changes.

    Squared
    Conclusion: No God

IF the Christians are correct about Biblegod having INFINITE POWER...thenENERGY and/or MASS go to infinity. WHICH IS ABSURD AND IMPOSSIBLE, and which we DON'T see in our universe.

    I hate math
i was never good at it.

anyway god is beyond the fixed and mechanical concept of math
a concept which has given me many bad grades through out my life:p

i think you should tell your friend to do a lil more research into the theorys of physics

    3 things:

    1. Forgive me for my ignorance but HOW THE HELL DID YOU DRAW GOD INTO THAT. One minute you're talking theoretical physics, next you're saying god doesn't exist. I must have missed something.

    2. Get the physics right mate.

Let's break this down shall we?

    "Energy=MassxC"

No, it's E=mc2 (2 being superscript, indication a power. I don't know how to do superscript here, I won't try, however, at least I have indicated that it is intented as a power, not as "times 2")

    "(Speed of Light)SquaredEAlgebra:"

    Huh?

"In an Equation, whatever is to the left of the =

sign must stay equal to whatever's on the right."

    Correct. Can't argue with that.

However, do remember that it's equally valid to write "mc2=E".

"Mx186,000 miles per second. This is a constant, that is, CAN'T CHANGE, no matter what.SquaredE of"

False. Do you know how a rainbow works? Or Newtons prism?

Of course you don't, otherwise you wouldn't imply that light stays at one speed. As it changes the substance it's in, light changes speed, and becomes defracted, the higher the frequency of the light the less suspectable it is to defract and therefore the white light (every frequency), is split into it's constituents.

The speed of light is 186000 miles per second IN A VACUUM. Always remember that last bit.

Also Mx doesn't ever come into the equation - M does, x doesn't. You don't write the x when doing algebra because that would imply an x, not a times. X is imcluded in "energy=mass x speed of light squared" because that isn't algebra.

Besides, m is mass, not the speed of light.

    " Biblegod:

    *Infinite

    Energy

    *(or so the Christians claim)"

2 things, write that together (i.e. *infinate energy, not:
    infinate

    energy).

That way we know that you intend to imply that those 2 words are connected)

Secondly, where does it say that in the Bible? If we're going by the Christian viewpoint then surely we should refer to the Bible shouldn't we? Of course, it is taught that God is infinate but energy never came into it as far as I'm concerned, not in Christian teaching. Actually hang on, if god is omnipresent then surely all energy is INCLUDED in God's being but doesn't make up god's being.

"= Since Energy (on the left) goes to infinite, Mass (on the right, and the only thing on the right that can change) must change to infinite also, for the equation to stay an equation."

True. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make there?

"M IF Biblegod has infinite energy, THEN Mass changes to infinite as well, for the equation to stay equal, as this is the only thing that can change on the right hand side of the equation."

    See my last point.

"xC This is locked in at 186,000, no matter how much "E" changes."

Well sort of but we've gone through this.

    "Squared"

    Where did that come from.

    "Conclusion: No God"

    And that?

    "
IF the Christians are correct about Biblegod having INFINITE POWER...thenENERGY and/or MASS go to infinity. WHICH IS ABSURD AND IMPOSSIBLE, and which we DON'T see in our universe. "

Oh dear, you're even confusing Power and energy.

    Power=energyxtime for a start.

Mass can go to infinity. The universe, by definition is infinate. Mass is created and destroyed ALL THE TIME.

What this equation says isn't that the ammount of energy in this universe is equililant to the ammount of mass in the universe, it is saying that energy and mass are the same thing just in different forms. Matter is condensed energy, energy is liberated matter.

Energy however, can't be created or destroyed, so I'll give you that one HOWEVER - it isn't a new theory that our universe is the only one, so other universes would, in all likelyhood, obey completely different law, and the law of conservation of energy may not apply.

Another thing, the laws of our own universe haven't been completely figured out yet either. A physical law isn't an immutable rule that the universe has to obey, it's merely a description, from our limited viewpoint, of how the physical universe works.

    3. Finally, assuming your arguement about infinity and Einstein and thermodynamics is true, it beares no relation to the existance or non-existance of God. It is simply saying that, that particular aspect of God doesn't work on the physical plane with the current law of physics in mind. That's a long way of from even scientific proof that God doesn't exist.

    Blessings

    Sebbi

First, your post is really very badly written, Libertine. Very unclear.

Second, you for some reason equate god to energy, which I'm not sure you should. But if God = Energy, you must remember, that energy = matter. So if E=mc^2, and E is infinite, then so is the m, because they are essentially the same thing. So, to rewrite with substitution:

God = God x the speed of light squared.

hmm. I started out here to prove you wrong, but I'm not sure I succeeded. Maybe if we write it this way:

Infinity = infinity x speed of light squared.

That makes more sense, because infinity is infinity no matter what operations you perform on it. Infinity times ten is still infinity.

Christians claim, without any evidence whatsoever, that their Biblegod has unlimited power, infinite energy. Their technical term for this unfounded claim is “omnipotence”.

Thus, Christians claim their Biblegod is a source of energy that is all-powerful, a "force of unlimited power", i.e. without limits- and thus an energy source that is without limits; in other words, infinite.

'Energy and mass are RELATED, per the equation given by Albert. IF you have X amount of energy, you therefore know how much mass you have as well. The Christians, by postulating WITHOUT ANY EVIDENCE OR EXPERIMENTAL DATA an infinite energy source, have entered fantasy land.

Seeing how the Christians postulate an INFINITE level of energy for their "god", we should expect to see within our universe such an energy source- in fact, we would more than see it- we would be vaporized and destroyed in it. Be it infinite energy or mass, our existing disproves it either way.

But when it's pointed out that such a being could NOT exist in the REAL universe, THEN they escape to their make-believe "transcendental universe" where ANYTHING is possible. The FACT that there IS no evidence for THAT universe, nor for a million other make-believe universes, doesn't slow them down.

The minute your Biblegod so much as sticks his little toe in OUR universe, he becomes fair game for modern science, including Albert. And if and when Biblegod DID stick his toe into our universe, Biblegod being INFINITE, his little toe would also be infinite, and thus would fill ALL of OUR universe, and we'd just become toe jam to some cosmic freak. Therefore, it's never happened- and I can base that on modern physics.

This is your choice: you either throw out ALL of modern science, OR you toss out your Biblegod: BOTH can not be right.'

Also, you have to take the "Proof" with a grain of salt and a little humor, guys. ;)

    Notice the smiley face? :)

Now you're using the same logic that you so rail against ..the same logic that fundamentalists use to prove their claims, except you draw the conclusion of no god instead of god. ..

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And lean not on your own understanding:
In all your ways acknowledge him,
And he will make your paths straight.

    -Proverbs 3: 5-6

how on earth can we all trust our own understanding? We all understand differently when it comes to things of the world. We cannot all be right. Our minds are frail, our thoughts are swayed like a sail in the wind. When it comes to God, we will not fully understand him as long as we live on this filthy footstool. So i choose to trust Him and not lean on my own understanding, it is NOT enough of a reliable source.

Take it with a grain of salt, people.

    Ha ha...

    For fuck's sake.... :D

It was a bit of cynical humor.

I think I've stated time and time again one can't prove a universal negative.

yeah, one of the first thigns they teach you in high school science class is that nothing in science, possibly even in existence, can be "proven" true...ony false...

you can have one million repeatable legit experiments "proving" somethign true, but one repeatable experiment [that is also legit] can prove it false

    Couple points.

1: all physics aside, shouldnt the thread be labeled proof of no infinite god? Because goddammit one thing that pisses me off is when atheists rebel against a god, using only their narrow christian view. There are more options that christian, just because you can prove christians wrong, doesnt mean there isnt a god.

2: Why does it even matter if there is a god or not?

3: Science is only mans theory, like religion, but with more "proof"

4: Wanna disprove my gods next? You won't win, because you walk on Her daily, and She is the main of many that i worship, so you would have to do a little more research than badgering the Bible.

Let it go man, so the Christians worship a stolen Semitic god, who cares, he was given more credit than he deserves. True he doesnt exist in the context the Chrisitans and the Bible paint him, but neither does any hero of the past. If you want to argue fact and all, the JFK never existed either, because god knows he isnt what the history books say.

    Now, Heron.

I read your journal. It failed to save my life.

What do you have to say for yourself?

These Christians really love me, you know.

Well, thats more of that cynical humor. It hasnt saved anyones life to date,
but it has helped i have been told.

I devote my life to growing spiritually, and hopefully helping others do so as well,
its much more positive than devoting myself to ripping others beliefs apart because I lack the imagination to have any real ones of my own.

Misery loves company, and you are only trying to make friends i suppose.
