With the holidays here I thought it would be fun to see what ideas kids could come up with. The first pic is a leaf that my cousin's daughter did in Kindergarden and the second is a snowman that my 7 year old and her Aunt are making as gifts & maybe selling in craft show.
I came up with a pretty cool project for my kids this Thanksgiving (well, I think it's cool anyhow, lol)... We had 6 people for Thanksgiving Dinner (This would be great for Christmas dinner too though) so I went to the craft store and bought 6 of those little brown paper mache boxes. We painted them and decorated them with stickers and buttons and all sorts of stuff I found in our art bin (I keep a big bin of art stuff for the kids). Then on each box we put the name of one of the people who would be at the table so that each person ended up with their own box. Then I cut strips of paper and for each box we wrote one thing each (so there were six strips per box) that we love about each person. We then used them as place settings on the table and before dinner we went around the table and took turns reading aloud what everyone had written in our boxes. It was a wonderful way to encourage us all to think about each person and to be loving and thankful for everyone we had at our table. It made everyone feel very good. At Christmas you could also put the boxes in the tree and open them that way too.
