    Hey guys,

At work (a pub), we are raising money for the leukemia foundation, and I originally said I wouldn't cut my dreads. But thinking about it for awhile I decided to put my hand up for it.

I've have my dreads for three years now, and think I'm over them. They are starting to get long enough to start really getting in the way. The ironic part of this is, i've wanted for this sort of length ever since starting my dreads.

Just wanted to know what you guys reckon on the subject?

Anyways, some recent pics of them (About 2 months ago).

Maaaaaan, the cutting virus has been getting everyone lately.

My advice, do whatever make you happy dude. Buuuuut, if I were you, I'd just let em go. They look good and you don't have to do a thing to your hair...I dunno. Just imagine where they would be after another 3 years....:afro:

Nah, no locks of love. Just fundraising. Some of the old blokes who drink at the pub like to give me shit, I figure they can put their money where their mouth is.

I thought this was going to be about suspicion of someone using knives on themselves.

Cool, it's just hair! If the time is right for you it's time then.

If Love Locks can't use them you can see if there is still oil slick to sop up.

It is just hair. But it's 4.5 years of hair. That's right, my last haircut was in 2006.

Fuck that, give them £100 if your going to feel guilty about it. I wouldn't cut my dreads for charity any sooner than Id get a tattoo on my face for charity, the "just hair" argument doesn't exactly hold up too well when it's going to take years to replace them

The only thing that matters is that you are tired of them getting in the way.
Winter is coming, I guess you could wear a toboggan cap, but maybe the dreads will keep you warm for the next few months.
Wait if you are Down Under, scratch what I said. Now might be your time for a cooler cut.

It is laudable to give to a worthy cause & those are gorgeous locks.

I more meant it's better to deal with a hair cutting dilemma than a troubled friend or family member slicing their flesh as a method to cope with life.

Getting in the way can be dealt with... you could tie them back using your locks which are long enough, or a rubber band, a thin headband, a hair tie or something like that, then during your downtime let 'em hang...

But maybe that's not your style and on the other hand, if you are truly over them, or they are uncomfortable or something, then maybe it's time to cut. Also, I support getting paid in some form or another for something that you grew from your body (not talking about semen :D) as long as that is not the only reason one has for doing it.

I think your locks are badass, like :sunny:. Just so you know

If you want rid of your dreads then cut them.
If you don't want rid of your dreads then raise funds another way. I did the three peaks challenge recently, we raised £1300 for charity and I got in shape in the process. Something like that seems a whole lot more beneficial than losing my dreads.
